Sticky shoe spinoff - I need mine to be slippier!

Following on from the concrete 'n' coke / sticky soles for shoes thread, can anyone help me go the opposite way with my elasticated slip on gold ballet slipper thingies?

I got these a few years ago, I teach in them but wouldn't normally perform in them, but I'm doing a Michael Jackson tribute dance on 17th July (doing it respectfully, not a joke or anything, I love that kind of dancing). And although I've pretty much mastered the moonwalk, I could do with the soles of these slippers being a bit more like their name - slippier slippers.

The soles are suede. What can I do to smooth it out so I can do a fast and sharp double 360 degree turn?

    Thanks chaps and chapesses xx

By accident I learned this - Water based silicone spray for suede. I wanted to waterproof my soles not relaizing it made them very slippery-

    Aha - brilliant - thanks!

Any trade or brand names you can share? What's that one we used on the spark plugs in the car back in my day? And creaky doors - is that the sort of thing you mean?

you can use shellac....just make sure you break in the soles of the shoes before you perform in them because shellac hardens like crazy. also make sure to apply it in a thin and even coat. you don't want to dance on bumps. be sure to let the shellac dry on a flat surface too for the same reason.

Wow shellac! One of our brides used that in her hair to get the 1920s deep finger wave look. It worked and it held well, but she had a big problem when it came to removing it!

Re. the water-based silicone spray - still can't think of a brand name but water based silicone ... maybe hair serum?? Barry thinks talcum powder will do the job ...
