Thanks for ideas, I wish I could delete thread - type of undergarments do you wear?
If you do not mind be asking....and I hope you do not.....I know it's really a personal choice.....but with the costumes being so tight these days, what's a lady suppose to wear under? and for the fuller skirted costumes same question?

That would be something you would have to try for yourself and see whatever works, be it a thong or bikini, as far as I know.

Re: What type of panties do you wear?
I wear flesh tone thongs or boyshorts- the very thin cotton type-I am not tone and bikinis give me nasty pantylines.

Re: What type of panties do you wear?
I usually wear some type of seamless thong with super thin side straps.
The jury's often out on thongs, with the reasoning that a skirt could fly up and reveal bare buttcheeks. I think this is a valid issue when it comes to wearing a thong with a chiffon skirt with slits. But tight lycra costumes usually hug the booty so well (and typically, the slits start at mid-thigh or lower), I don't lose sleep over the slim possibility of flashing my butt. When I'm wearing chiffon fluffies, it's full-coverage boy shorts allllllllll the way!
Try on a couple of different types of underwear with your costume - boy shorts, cheerleader briefs, a few different thongs - and see how secure you feel while doing spins, turns, Dina hip circles and other potentially risky moves.

Re: What type of panties do you wear?
I wear VS Body By Victoria bikini undies in a color that matches my costume, so that in the unlikely case of unintended fabric shifts, nobody notices. I wear big skirts and pantaloons, so VPL or audience wondering about raqs beaver are not really part of my world.

Re: What type of panties do you wear?
Low rise flesh tone boyshorts are what I generally go for, unless cutouts don't allow it. In that case, I'll go for low rise, flesh tone thong or gstring.

Re: What type of panties do you wear?
Depends on the costume. hanes makes a great mesh boy short which doesn't have elastic in the legs and come's in a lot of colours. And despite being mesh, isn't see through. My LRose skirts are slit high and on a raised stage could easily flash people.
Under my dresses with the massive mess cutouts, I tend to wear a pair of flesh toned mesh bikini's which I have modified by taking the leg elastic out of.

Re: What type of panties do you wear?
I wear Body by Victoria seamless hipster panties, and they don't create VPL on my lycra costumes. I don't have to worry about them showing through cutouts because cutouts with my hips and thighs are not happening in this lifetime. I also don't do any type of high slits at all, so even on a spin nobody's going to be seeing much above the knee.
I do boyshorts in a matching color for the couple of full circle skirts I have.

Thanks for the thoughts, I've tried a few different styles and I haven't felt comfy in anything yet, hence the post. and that link is great. Thanks again.

Re: What type of panties do you wear?
Call me a fuddy-duddy, but I only wear full-coverage underwear that match or coordinate with the costume. Lycra costumes that really show panty lines? I just don't buy them. There are many alternatives.

Re: What type of panties do you wear?
I agree with Deborah. I don't buy regular clothes that give me panty lines, so I don't buy dance costumes that do. I wear full coverage underwear, usually dance briefs that match the costume. I'd rather have them know I'm wearing underwear.

Re: What type of panties do you wear?
a flesh colored thong that has a good strong elastic. that way you can pin any wandering lycra to the elastic and it won't go anywhere.
it's comfortable and if anything slips, it's nude so much less of a headache there.

Hmmm, being that this thread may be public via google, and some of you have websites... I would decline to answer this question ;)
Just a thought.

Re: What type of panties do you wear?
I prefer low-rise boy shorts or dance briefs in a color that matches the costume. I never want an audience member to think that they're seeing something that they're not supposed to see! I took a sewing pattern for leggings and just cut the legs off the pattern, so I can make boy shorts to match any costume. You don't need a lot of fabric to do it (a half a yard should be plenty), and the pattern is only 1 piece (cut twice), so it takes me less than an hour to put together a pair of shorts.

Re: What type of panties do you wear?
Panty lines are the worst! So I go to Wal-Mart and look through all their panties (and variety of colors). I'm sure I raised some eyebrows when I checked out with nothing but a dozen+ pair of brightly colored panties in all different styles. A veritable smorgasbord of undies!

Hey, at least the Truth (with a capital T) is out there:
Yes, I do wear appropriate underpinnings to each and every gig! Clients can rest assured that they won't get a surprise Raqs B. from me ..l;,
I'd have to agree that this is neither the time nor the place to confess your love for going commando, or the fact that you've worn Superman panties in hopes that the "S" will be revealed during a climactic series of spins in your drum solo finale .w.:Last edited by SatinWorship19; 07-08-2009 at 03:35 PM.

i wear ones by a company called barely there they have several styles and are tagless. I like thier microfiber lowrise the best. they are light, seamless and do not show at all under costumes. go to Barely There > Barely There Bras, Tops, Panties, Shapewear what i do is find the style i want there, then go and find them on ebay for alot less money. thier tagless soft cup bra is heavenly as well. i just got the underwire version but have yet to wear it.

I wear nude boy shorts, just because I have too much in the trunk to be jiggling all over the place. Some lady called me nasty when I was younger in clothes on, because when I walked my butt jiggled, so I haven't worn them ever since. Sorry, TMI.
My instructor wears thongs, I don't see any problem with it really. I guess it is preference of course.
I have heard stories of people at rehearsal going commando, lmao!
I seen that someone made them in the June What You Are Working On Thread, Anjela made some boy shorts using a basic legging costume. I must say that is quite an idea.
