Didn't Want to Leave You Out...MU for Men

Just off the top of my head, here are some super products to keep you looking fine onstage and in front of the camera!

Ben Nye-5 O'Sharp Beard Cover If these are too light for you, add a small amount of cream orange makeup to your foundation to cancel any blue in your beard shadow.

MAC Fast Response Eye Cream. Counteracts puffiness around the eye area for those early morning photo shoots.

    Exfoliate regularly!

Eyeliner & eye shadow techniques: dark pencils in the waterline; more shadows and smokey lines on the bottom lash line, rather than on the lid. Because men's brows tend to be bushier, adding more depth to the lid may shade the eyes too too much. If you want to open the eye lid area, remove just one line of brow hair underneath.

Lips: a slightly darker foundation color works well and looks more natural; adds definition to the mouth without looking too drag queeny.

Take advantage of shading and highlighting to sculpt the face and body. Sometimes you don't need color and all you need are some well-placed shadows and highlights to accentuate your features and bone structure. Use matte foundations (creams, liquids, or minerals).

Nurturing Force Blotter Papers. Damn I wish we had these during my wedding photos. My beloved [now ex-]husband's forehead could have directed airplanes down from the sky, he was so shiny! These are excellent quick oil removers and because they come in small rolls, you can decide how much you need.

Thanks! As I get older, and contemplate coming back to the stage, info like this is of use to me!

... or just go au naturel like this guy I worked on recently. Surprisingly (or not), tons of makeup to get the natural look. I didn't have 5 O'Sharp on hand so I just used orange-toned concealer to tone down the facial hair shadow.

That's brilliant - thanks! I know I'm not a guy (well, only at weekends lol!), but I do have to do makeup on guys occasionally and this will be a really big help to me.

The last time I made up a guy for photos, I made the mistake of using a latex sponge for the foundation and it got ripped to shreds by his stubble! He was having full-on female makeup cos he was undergoing a gender reassignment. Straight after the shoot I went out to MAC and got meself a foundation brush.

Eeugh, just as I was writing this I rubbed my eye and most of my eyelashes came off in one go (don't worry they're falsies). Off to your eyelash thread now cos I think the salon is shut today. You are just my makeup saviour at the moment Azhia!

I'm assuming this is OK for women to use too? Sounds great.

when I was a wedding coordinator, I suggested that all of my grooms go out and get a tube of laura mercier primer (and share it with their fiancees, of course!). I guess any mattifying primer would do the job. invisible on the skin. it gives a nice finish for photos, and it gave the powder something to stick to if they were man enough to let me powder their shiny foreheads and noses.
