Thread: Show Me Your Revamped eBay Specials!

In response to Brea's Champagne Taste thread, and to answer some questions set forth in my blog, I'd love to know how a girl can show a cheap eBay bedlah its higher purpose in life.

Pictures, instructions, whatever. Bring 'em on!

I bought this old Turkish bra & belt on e-bay for I think $80. It was tired and beat, beading falling apart in several places, missing stones, and the bra is glommed onto a larger size lingerie bra (which fits me perfectly) that is hanging out showing at the bottom and all around the back. I repaired all the beading, replaced stones, and put it together with this We3 skirt and vest set I so fortunately already had; bought it second hand on e-bay a few years ago. The vest hides all the bad stuff hanging out from the bra and shows only the fabulous-looking cups and straps. The medallions on the sides of the belt are actually wristlets that I just folded up and attached some long gold fringe to. The gold fringe was scraps hanging around from some other project long ago. I did this originally because I thought I needed to lengthen the belt a little. Then it turned out I didn't, but the medallions and long gold fringe hanks look so cool, I put them on anyway. The gold shimmer black bodysuit was also second hand and purchased on Bhuz quite a while back. I've danced in this twice so far and it just made people gasp. Just recently I bought a very vintage looking used black and gold Turkish crown here on Bhuz for $10 that will be worn with this and will make it just perfect. So there you are - every component of a fabulous costume acquired second hand and cheap - over time.

Wish I had pics of the black and gold dress I made into a costume that you purchased from me - that would go well on this thread!

I got this from a eBay seller in Uzbekistan in Dec. 2008. Due to a mixup at Canada Post in was send to my old address, then back to the p.o. where it sat there for 10 days, then back to Uzbekistan (!)... And finally back to me at my new home! It took about 2 months and a half.

During this time, the seller and I kept emailling each other, and I have to say that even thought I wrote him a couple of time about my frustration, ..c:: he kept very polite and respectfull, he send me copy of the shipping receipt, etc.

When the package came back to him, he took a picture of the package showing the address and send it to me before shipping again. Well it all ends well.

It cost me about $85cdn, it was including a nice skirt but with a lot of black in it, I didn't like it, so a member of our troupe offered me $20 for it.

The bra straps look more like lingerie straps so I've replace them and add purple glass beads to the border of the bra cups as well. I already had an old scholl purple petal skirt that matches, but it also goes purdy good with a bright yellon circular one that I have.

For special community events in front of a GP, the old school cab look is appropriate and fun, so I go for it, and this bedlah is very comfy!

P.S.: the 3 straps elastic head band (2 for $1 so I also have a yellow one to match my other skirt) and the sequin flower are frome a local dollar store!

Surida, I think Rose has that dress. I'll ask her about it (if I can remember)..c::.

PS aside- components for your joolery arrived; center piece sent off with Gene to have some holes drilled. It's coming!
