    BD dresses as wedding gowns...

A friend and I were talking about it...and it makes sense! Buy a cossie, get married then dance in it rather than letting it yellow in a bag in the closet! I wanted to send her some pics and ideas...anybody done this? I know Pharonics has some gorgeous cossies...

There is a thread around here somewhere that has a video of a dancer in one.

Better yet, belly dancer bridesmaid dresses! I remember the salmon pink good fairy Glinda dress I wore for a friend's wedding.

Not a wedding dress, but I wore a leopard print Saidi dress to prom.

Wouldn't the bridesmaids have to wear UBDC? Then it would be perfect!

Oooh, Kadife, your friend's dress is lovely and classy. I had to click through all the photos--looked like an awesome party!

I'd have to say that if you want to do this, go for the dresses.

I am planning a ME wedding as we speak.

My mother is still cringing at the thought of me not wearing white. But, she said that it is my wedding to do what I want.

My dress will be a dress though, but something I can wear to dance in, in the future.

mmmmm I think I prefer my friend's Eman(which is very proper) I rather think the second bride , in particularmight look back at her photos in the future and think.."Why oh why...)Beautiful girls but mmmmmm
I married 40 years ago (yup a long sentence) and most of my friends wore fashionable mini dresses. I didn't ....went long white velvet , rather Edwardian in look and don't worry about getting the album out to show people the old black and white photos . But him indoors wore a (very dark) red "Beatle-style" suit.

In particular she will look at her mother and wonder why she wore her bra on the outside of her dress.

I agree that your friend looks lovely.
I like that she has covered up her tummy, I think it looks a bit tacky getting married in a two-piece, dresses are much more classy.

there were some dresses on ebay a while ago that were belly dance bridal costume/dresses. I'll try to see if i can find pics. They were all full of lace and beads and white.....stuff....pretty though. Definitely cheaper than spending $4000 on a dress you will wear once and will go on to sit in the back of your closet taking up space.

No! lmao! I have been with my SO for 14 years. Never had the money to get married. I mean my mother raised me by herself and I was not going to put this burden on her. After thinking it through, I wanted to have a fun party! I am not the wearing "white" type of girl, so I was reading this thread, and it inspired me to do exactly what I wanted.

I have no intention of ever getting married but I always like to tell my mom that if I ever do, it will be the biggest joke wedding ever. Only really cheesy wedding songs played, instead of "colors" I will have fabrics like faux fur and sequence, and all of the food will be of the appetizer variety because I love food in miniature! My little sister already got married and did the whole white dress traditional ceremony thing so I am off the hook. I thought that instead of telling the bridesmaids what to wear, I would give them more of a challenge like it has to be this material and you can only use fabric glue to hold it together and see what they come up with!..l;,

Believe it or not, but in Tunisia it's appropriate for a bride to show her a little belly sink! .w.:

Actually, it's made of a 2 pieces set call "blouza" for the top and "fouta" for the skirt.

And this one is for you bdaddiction... color is also permited for 2nd weadding:

    Enjoy!

Once in Cairo I bought a beautiful beaded long dress because I liked the color. It doesn't have hanging fringe which I liked but knew I wanted to wear it for a special occasion, and not to dance in. After sitting in my closet for 3 years I finally got my chance to wear it, at my son's wedding! His wife's mother also went out and bought a nice beaded dress to wear. So it worked out well.
