Bras and Dresses
What type of bra do you all wear under your dresses? Do you just get one that is supportive or do you BD it up a bit? I am working on my first dress and I was thinking of making a bra like I would for a set and just not pretting it up so that I get the same support that I would from a set. The other part of me just wants to skip the work. What do you all do?

What kind of dress? Knowing that, we might be able to be more helpful!

Re: Bras and Dresses
If it isn't going to show AT ALL.. then leaving it plain is ok, and color doesn't matter. But one that matches the dress or your skin tone is a nice touch.
If ANY part is going to be visible, that part needs to be covered to look like a *costume piece* NOT *underwear*.
In other words if the straps are visible in back, they need to be replaced or recovered to match the costume. If the dress dips in front to show cups or a bit of cup, then the cups must be covered.

Re: Bras and Dresses
If you wear a lingerie bra under a dress, you can cross the straps in the back to add more support and firmness and even replace stretchy straps for ones made of firm material. Helps give the same lift and firmness of a costume bra.

Re: Bras and Dresses
If the bra is not visible, I would leave it alone. The only thing is, I would redo the straps so that they are stiff, not stretchy, offering more support. You don't want your girls to jiggle on an elastic support system while you are shimmying.
If you can see the bra through the sheer netting of the dress, then it should match the color of the dress and somehow prettied up so that it does not look like a lingerie bra.
If any part of the bra is visible,i.e, it is part of the dress, then it should be covered and made as pretty as possible.
altogether, the audience should never know that it is just a regular bra.

Re: Bras and Dresses
It is a L Rose beledy dress. Nothing should show. I think I will go ahead and alter a bra so there is no elastic and leave it at that.
