    i want Jill Parker's hair!

A few months ago I stopped henna'ing and had my hair dyed a deep red/brown color, and had a mix of copper and blond highlights added on top, in chunks large enough to see and create a contrast

But with the frequent water and sun , which I can never give up, the red color is faded (I know reds fade first) and the blond highlights sort of now all blend together so there are not defined strands that are highlighted (unless I straighten it and use shine spray..)

I'm after the contrast..the dark color with a good scattering of highlights on top and around the face..

is it possible, and safe, to have some of the highlights re-dyed so they are dark again? I think maybe there is too much blond and I'd prefer copper over dark..also am thinking to have the underside dyed dark brown instead of red so it will stay in longer..I like dark since blond ages me.

Jill Parker's hair is muy bonita..am looking to achieve something similar in my own color scheme

ideas? will re-dyeing the blond to a darker color work?

Yes, but you should definitely have it done by a professional. I've had carmel colored highlights that just got blonder with time (and blonde does not look good on me at all), so I started applying semi-permanent dark brown over it and after a few weeks it bled through. But I didn't use permanent because I didn't know what would happen plus I didn't want to change the rest of my hair color.

Yes. The best thing is to have it done professionally and the bleached out bits will need filling with a red first before the dark goes on.

But lightened/bleached hair is damaged and fragile and has insufficient pigment inside it for the dye to hold on to. It will never hold the colour as well as you want it to. It will grab, but in time you're likely to see a bit of fade. That's just the way it goes with lightened hair.

Also, highlights *always* break up a bit over time. It's normal because some of those lightened hairs will fall out and new darker ones will come in their place.

I know of a fantastic gal in the east bay for doing haircolor. Especially if you want something a little out of the ordinary.

Her name is Wendy Adams at Remedy Salon in Emeryville. She dances with FCBD and I love what she does with mine and with other colors and cuts.

Yup, Wendy is great, and very affordable too. She did a great job in my short cut.
