How to make bra bigger?
I have an Eman galabeya that fits me perfectly BUT the bra that comes with it is no longer capable of holding 'the girls' without some oozage, mainly on one side (some weight gain - but to be fair it was always on the small side).
Can resourceful bhuzzers suggest a way to increase its capacity??
Could I get away with wearing a different costume bra underneath?
Could I stitch the opening closed and wear a regular bra underneath without losing the loveliness of the costume?
Be warned - I have limited sewing skills
and completely taking the bra apart would be too difficult a job for me. The cups are hard and I don't have any spare matching fabric to add to the tops of them. I'm out of ideas!
TIA..g.:
Oh, by the way, if it helps any, there's a pic of me in the costume here:Desna ~ Bellydance Artist ~ Teaching

Re: How to make bra bigger?
One option would be to use a decent (aka sturdy) bra, cover the portion that will show in a nice, coordinating fabric (since you likely will not be able to find a match for that lovely costume), then make a simple hip sash out of the same fabric to tie it all together (pun un-intended, but I'll claim it anyway). ..l;,

Under arm oozage, or fall out the front oozage??

If it's top oozage, try finding stretch sequins in a coordinating color, in 1"-3" width (depending how much extra coverage you need). Whipstitch it to the top edge of your bra, and you'll have extra coverage that conforms to the shape of your breasts. It's obvious up close, but looks great on stage.

Re: How to make bra bigger?
The question is what a shape of bra You have. I habe a Dina-shape-bra from Eman it was to small. I have open the cups and took a bigger strong cup inside. On one cup I could take the drape only bigger, the other cup I took the Material from an bracelet to cover the new part. After than I decoratet and covered inside. I have signed the former shape....
Best regards

Re: How to make bra bigger?
Hmmm.. where's the ooze? Sounds like it's around the sides under the arms - could that be because the actual rib band is now a little too short rather than a problem with the cup size?
Is it your pretty purple galabeya? You could totally sew up (or popper up, so you could still have variable cleavage
) the opening and wear a smooth cup T-shirt style bra underneath to make sure there were no unsightly lines.
If you can remover the fabric covering from the Eman bra, you could probably use it to cover a new bra - there's not hugely much of the bra on show, and if you worry about botching the stitching job you could get yourself a Kandi Kane and some purpley rhinestones and decorate the bra and the facing of the opening in cunning stitchery disguising stylee!

Re: How to make bra bigger?
If I have that problem I usually detach the straps and use that to get more coverage, then make new straps. Here's a bella bra I've been enlarging - the straps are the line above the cup and the back strap, and the new straps are added. The original was a touch too small in the cups and the side straps were way too small for my upholstery!

Re: How to make bra bigger?
Thanks for all suggestions - bhuzzers rock! It's mainly top oozage (due to the hard cups) with a little side. I didn't mention I have a week to sort this in, so time being of the essence this is what I'll do -
Try THTX's sequin band fix first and see how that goes, if it doesn't work, then I'll try wigglewhiz's fix and sew/popper the front closed and try a t-shirt bra underneath. If still no joy, I'll go with TediThomas's suggestion to recover a bra and make a matching hip sash (actually this could be a long term fix so I'll work on this anyway), and last resort I'll deconstruct the bra and remake it to fix.
Thanks for all suggestions, and Salima - thanks for posting your pics, they're inspirational (but sadly past my skillset!). I'm a long time lurker on the 'what are you working on' thread and always love your costumes!

Re: How to make bra bigger?
If it's a galabeya, it means the back of the bra will not be seen right ? You could always get one of those bra extenders and use it at the back, or make a bra extender to fit the right clasps etc.

Re: How to make bra bigger?
Did the costume come with a head band? If so use it to make more coverage!
I use a (cheap) bra cut the cup (however much I need and cover it in the head band. I then sew it under the bra cup of the costume and I now have a wonderful new, keep the girls in costume. It is easy also!

Re: How to make bra bigger?
I had that problem because the cup did not hold the girls. When I added the extra bra with the head band cover (cound use any fabric) it took care of that as well. You can also use gross grain ribbon to make the center seporate a little more. Sometime that little middle section between the cups needs to be longer with a larger cup size!

Re: How to make bra bigger?
I will be posting photos of the blue cat when I get back from Wiggles...that one had lots of problems due to my gianormous shoulders, and boobs that start under my shoulder blades. I think some of the photos are on the blue cat ICU threa. I make a halter with fabric under the straps.

Re: How to make bra bigger?
I just received a new costume and I'm wondering if the cups are too small. Hubby says no, but I don't feel super comfortable in it. I have breast tissue that start under my arms because I have large breasts and I that could be the problem. I don't have this problem with all of my costumes, just this one.
Thanks for all the suggestions, I do appreciate it very much.
