Hagallah dress--would this work?
I've beem wanting a hagallah dress in the worst way--you know, mesh bodice and belled sleeves with decorated bra underneath, several layers of "daggered" skirt in graduated lengths and long layered carwash type belt. But they are hard to find, especially in a size that will fit my broad shoulders and bust.
So Bhuzzers, what do you think about this idea. An L Rose Ghawazee Coat in mesh with circular sleeves over a short trumpet skirt with slits but no godets sewn in, over a straight lycra skirt with slits on the sides. Sequin and paillettes on all edges. Instead of beading the elaborate crescent deocration on the bodice wear crescent dowry necklace. Sequined bra underneath.
Here is the Ghawazee Coat at LRose: L. Rose Designs - Online Catalog
Is this a crazy idea or would it work?

It works for me! I love this kind of creative thinking.

While I can't quite visualize all of what you are describing, especially the trumpet over the straight skirt part, it's very intriguing. I love the idea of that L Rose Ghawazee dress in mesh, now I want one!

I'm thinking hot pink or fuscia stretch mesh. I would then add gold and pink sequin and pailette trim on the edges. Pink lycra skirt. And I could use the big ole heavy mutlilayer gold Abla fringe monster and paillette belt I already have.

So what you're picturing is a rendition of this style?

It's an interesting idea. I'm having a little trouble picturing it all, but that's just me, my imagination isn't very visual. If you can post pics of the various pieces, I'd be more helpful.
I've been thinking of making a sort of double-apron overskirt for a beledi dress to get the Reda look:

Yes, that is what I am after. I was thinking that the mesh Ghawazee coat would work cause it is already slit on sides and front and you could wear another layer or two under it or wear harems without or without a skirt. Dahlal has a version in the dresses pges called Honeyed Hagallah that is basically a heavily beaded straight skirt beledi dress with layers of skits/belt.
Adding overskirts to a beledi dress is another way to go. I think the original apparel for hagallah was fabric bumpers on the hips.
