How should I adorn very very short hair?

Hi all, I'm a student coming up on a recital soon. I'm a bit intimidated because I'm performing with the upper level class for the first time, and many of those students are professionals -- and I am definitely not!

I think I have a passable costume, but I feel like I need something to adorn my head since I have VERY short hair. I mean, very short. A pixie. Here's an example of the cut:

I'm very pale as well and wearing emerald green with cream colored embellishments. And oh by the way I'm doing a veil dance, so there is a potential for the veil catching!

    Any suggestions??

I seldom put anything in my hair actually, just try to style it well, and usually very close to the head, but hairbands with flowers, feathers etc can look nice. A necklace worn on the forehead in an old-school orientalist look is really pretty if you have the right kind of forehead (which I don't). Glitter spray can make the hair look special.

But the one thing you really want is a pair of monster earrings. We can rock long OTT earrings better than all others.

what about a headband in a matching color with your costume?
also, you can tease the top layer of your hair and add some glitter spray/gel for bling. basically, what zum said!

I think styling it close to your head, and wearing Fab earrings would be sooooo elegant...maybe just a couple of little sparkly hairpins?

From what you described, you aren't doing anything fusion inspired so I'll save you on that. I've seen some dancers with short hair leave it be and they looked great. They rocked the costume without needing to touch their hair. That's definitely an option.

zumarrad gave me some good advice in another thread..let me link it. http://www.bhuz.com/forum/fitness-be...grrr-hair.html

I can't recommend Nilaja's creations highly enough...they are as comfortable to wear as they are gorgeously glamorous!

How about a beaded head scarf? Or, of course, a wig.

I second the wig, but instead of a full one, you might find the 3/4 fall much more comfy.

My hair is shoulder lenght and since I purchase my 3/4 cap wig I'm just in love with it! I just hide the edge of the cap with a headband.

As on my avatar pic, the front of the head band, it's my own hair, behind the head band: the fall.

I bought this baby on eBay from wild cats wigs, less than $36CDN shipping to Canada include. It's synthetic, but good quality and I just keep it stored in its net and put back in the bag. I have sewn inside an other little wig comb that clip on a piece of my own hair for more security. It's work!

And an other +, you get ready for a gig in a jiffy!

I have a pixie, as short as your pic, though even shorter in the front. I have always worn wigs but this summer I decided to embrace my hair, regardless of its lack of length. I performed last weekend and didn't do a thing to it and was perfectly happy with the results. I didn't need to adjust it or worry about my hair flying off into someone's dinner or face. It was rather liberating, I must say.

I'm meeting with my stylist this weekend to give finger waves a whirl (thanks again to Kimahri!) for a big show in August in which I have multiple performances. If that doesn't work, I will probably wear a *thin* sparkly rhinestoney prom queen headband for a performance or two, just to change it up. Thin is important bc if it's not, the head just looks dumb~ clearly the headband is not there to hold my hair back, it is for adornment alone and so it must be narrow.

Oh, and echoing Zum: I *always* wear good sized earrings~ if they're not sparkly, then they are even bigger.

I *love* the idea of a half- or three-quarter-fall, but I'd need it custom made, and I wouldn't know whether the colour looked right long till I saw it.

I understand, but since I already had my hair dye on a regular base (king of redish brown), I just brought the fall to my hairdresser and ask him to match my hair to it!

A friend of mine recently got a super-cute pixie and has been wearing sparklie clips. The jewels and rhinestones really stand out and accent the style.
