Should I trade x for y?
I was just wondering, do you think I should sell this:

So I can afford this?:

Yes! Turquoise costumes are easy to find, its tough to find a nice green.

I think the green would look great on you. If you've worn the turquoise a few times, why not refresh your wardrobe if you can.

The green is fabulous and unique, I don't think I've seen one with a skirt like that.

Buy the green, sweetness. Do it do it do it. It will be beautiful on you.
And then, at some point in the future if you get tired of it, please sell it to me. I am NOT kidding -- with any luck, by then I'll fit into it!

I think you should keep the turquoise one. It is really flattering and classic.

Re: Should I trade x for y?
They are both beautiful. That green certainly looks tempting.
The deciding factor might be which looks better on you: circle skirt with separate belt, or one piece skirt that is fitting in the hip and butt and then flares out.
The latter is much more flattering on me, but some people feel they look bettern in the classic belt w/ circle skirt. The downside is that the one piece skirts generally have to be taped onto me with toupe tape because then tend to slide down otherwise.

Thanks y'all. I sent the Belly Dance Store an e-mail. Don't anyone buy it before me! :D

Re: Should I trade x for y?
I was drawn to that green one too!
I'm a sucker for Something New and always happy to sell something to get something else!
But I'll play devils' advocate since everyone is enabling:
1) Look at the swap meet. Costumes are sitting around for MONTHS these days. It's not a seller's market. Can you afford to buy the green if you're not able to sell the blue?
2) The skirt on that green is very sheer. It's going to be a lot sexier-looking and therefore you'll be more limited in where you're able to wear it. (maybe an underskirt would solve the problem for some occasions?) Just last weekend, for instance, I danced at noon in a coffeeshop. I could have worn the blue, but not the green for that gig.

Re: Should I trade x for y?
More points in favor of the turquoise:
-Assuming that the belt is separate from the skirt, the turquoise is more versatile. You could pair a different skirt with it for a different look. Why not get a trumpet skirt from L. Rose to achieve that more sexy, fitted silhouette?
-One piece skirts can be tricky if you are at all prone to getting muffin top. They have to be worn tight enough to stay up, which can cause those mini-muffins. The green one doesn't look too heavily beaded, so it might not need to be too tight, but it's still a consideration.

In my world, too, the green needs an underskirt. But I thought it either had one or would get one right quick once it got to my house.

Re: Should I trade x for y?
Oh snap! Well that's a bummer. Any way you could detach it? I suppose that'd rule out being able to wear it with the chiffon anymore, but maybe some has a circle skirt you could replace it with.
In that case, go for the green if you love it. :) If you already have a costume or two that says "classic bellydancer", and you want something more modern in your collection, I think that green one is a very elegant choice.

Re: Should I trade x for y?
You guys think it is see-through? It doesn't look like it in the pics. I could probably make an under skirt or get some boy shorts if that is a problem. ;-)

Re: Should I trade x for y?
my two cents: this is very similar to the eman i was trying to sell--- i did sell- not on the bhuz swap meet but to a local dancer. I LOVED the fabric and the beading and the style...it was little bit different than this bra/skirt, but similar enough, everyone that saw it loved it too.....but I don't particularly like Emans on me so I let this one go....and it's a nice green. and omg the fabric is delish. I'd say let go of the turquoise and get the green!
fyi also..mine came with boyshorts underneath in case it was see through.. I would've worn shorts underneath but I never did wear it after I cut my shorts out...

Re: Should I trade x for y?
I do not think the sheerness of the skirt is a factor, but then again I like to show my legs. The skirt looks very full, has a floral pattern on it to break up any silhouette that might show through, and the fitted part is wide enough that any leg that shows wouldn't be much of a deal anyway.

Re: Should I trade x for y?
I love this green! It should be relatively easy to detach the skirt, if you're a bit handy. If you get it, you have to post pics for all of us to drool over!

Re: Should I trade x for y?
In my world, there's no such thing as too sexy as long as you wear your Hottie McHotterson costumes to appropriate venues and have a small mini-rotation of classic costumes for birthdays and bellygrams.
I have to say, that green is pretty hot!
Just be prepared to drastically lower your asking price on your turquoise if you do sell it. I've sold a decent handful of costumes recently - none of them went without at least a $50 reduction.

Re: Should I trade x for y?
Well its a beautiful costume, but if you're going to spend that much money it should probably fit you. Can you try to do a custom order?
If not do you think you could find similar burn out material and maybe add a bit of fabric to the top of the cups?
