Need some costume opinions
Okay, I have two Beyond the Basics II that I've been trying to sell, and so far, no takers. I'm not willing to lower the price, so I guess unless they sell within the next week, I'll keep them. The thing is, I can't tell objectively if I look too boobilicious in them. I'm rather endowed in the breast department, so it's not like I can hide them no matter what I wear, but where is the line between va-va-va-voom and YIKES!!!?

Re: Need some costume opinions
first off, do you have any pics of how you look in these costumes.
secondly and more importantly, do you feel comfortable with the amount of boobage you are showing in these cossies? if you feel it is too much, then you won't be comfortable no matter what anyone says.
Do you spill over the sides like around your underarms? This is a good sign that the bra cup is too small for you. As long as most of you is contained in the cup, chances are you look fine.
also, have you thought about maybe adding some fabric or flowers to the edges to cover up some boobage? You can alternate these too.

Re: Need some costume opinions
Its hard to tell what the Boob-a-licious cut off line is w/out seeing pics because everyone is shaped differently. Plus, we may be able to offer tips on how to do minor alterations for a better fit if we see the costumes on you. Is that you wearing them in the swap-meet threads? Sometimes heavy boobs look to big if the shoulder straps are too long, other times boobs look too big because the cups are too far apart (or too close together)...
These are all alterations that are easily done on a Great Basic because the cups & shoulder straps are all separate pieces and made to be adjusted. These alterations may change the fit of the costume for you w/out changing the value dramatically. I've seen both the Red & Blue and think they are priced fairly but the market is just so slow...

I think the red looks too small, but the blue looks better. Maybe it is the angle. Have you thought about putting them on Craigslist or Ebay?

Re: Need some costume opinions
it looks to me like the shoulder straps are too long and instead of getting the va va voom effect, it looks like you are not strapped in enough. (This is just my personal opinion.) on the basic costume, for your frame, i would recommend moving the cups further apart so that more of the side would be encapsulated by the bra.
altogether, i don't think you have too much on top. there's ways to make that work to your advantage. so many women pay for the stuff you have that you have to work it!

Re: Need some costume opinions
IMO These can still work for you.
Red: Can you re-position the fringe so that it runs along the top line of the bra and comes down in a V btwn the cups? That might make you look a little less pop-out-y. You might also add a layer of rusched (sp?) red glitter dot, chiffon,or velvet fabric at the top of the bra to give you a little cleavage coverage. I'd recommend using a fabric that compliments the skirt you wear most often (i.e. if its a velvet skirt, do the ruching in velvet, if its chiffon, do chiffon...).

Re: Need some costume opinions
Blue: Shorten the shoulder straps & again reposition the fringe so it drapes along the top of the cups instead of across the middle.
I agree that the blue seems to be a better fit but the red is at a funky angle so its hard to tell.

As a well endowed woman myself, I think they both look too small. Your side boobs are coming out. That is a for sure sign you need a bigger cup. I hate my side boobs and wish they would magically disappear one day.
I wouldn't lower the price either. That's a very reasonable price IMO. Good luck!!

Yeah, Michelle, I wish mine would disappear too! I think you're right as well...there is just too much side boob going on. I suppose I could try some alterations, but I just don't have time these days. If they don't sell by the end of the week, I'll try ebay, even though I hate their fees!

Try tribe before you try ebay. I really like the blue one but I have a huge butt. :D

Re: Need some costume opinions
As another big-boobed woman I concur. They're both on the small side - but that's the lot of the big boobed belly dancer. Those of you who say the blue fits better, have you actually looked at the closeup? It doesn't. There is much side boob.
The fringe positioning on the blue appears also to run straight across the breast, and it would look more attractive if it were v-ed a little more.
I would in the first instance look at what happens when you reposition or adjust strap length. I know what it is to be a large breasted dancer. Try everything you can to improve those bras!
They're not *bad* but they're not great. This, however, is largely the lot of the large breasted dancer.

Re: Need some costume opinions
I agree with an amalgamation of everyone else's ideas. Yes, they are both on the small side for you. The front cleavage doesn't really look YIKES to me, but I can't say for sure if it would be YIKES when you are dancing in it.
I agree with Nayastrance that the whole bra looks like it needs to be lifted on you. The other issue is that, over and above the cup size, these bras are not constructed for a large breasted dancer. The band needs to be wider. The thin, halter style straps are a no-go also. THe simply will not support enough and will kill your neck in the long run. You need a bra with wider band and wider straps, and either straps that criss cross, or if halter style, with additional strappage running down from the back of the neck to the back of the band to help support.
Finally, the fringe is swallowing you up. The fringe on both needs to be lifted to the top edge of the bra, and in the case of the blue one, the side fringe probably removed as it is obscuring your waistline and shortening your torso. I get this alot -- I do have an hourglass figure but if any crap is hanging off the bra I look like a decorated easter egg.

Re: Need some costume opinions
You will find a better fit in higher end costumes. Probably not a perfect off the rack fit though. My best advice is get comfortable with sewing and get used performing major surgery on bras to custom fit them to you.
For example, you can make wider straps out of matching material over buckram, denim, felt, etc. and then sew the thin sequined straps from a costume on top in order to make more strappage and comfortable strappage.
Sometimes you can use anklets, wristlets, headbands etc. that come with costumes to augment cups or band width.

Re: Need some costume opinions
I agree the halter strap is too long. You need to lift the cups up. I also thought you needed a larger cup size. From the front not too bad, but you are hanging out on the sides. Rule of thumb is to buy the bra 1-2 sizes larger than your normal size. You can alway add padding to fill in.
