I don't know if it counts as "professional", but the first real costume I ever bought that actually fit is the one I got for the recital I had a week ago. It's a Nile Flower from bellydancestore.biz.

My very first professional dance costume was a gold two piece Turkish costume from Topkapi designs as well as a turquoise two piece costume from Topkapi designs. There were identical to each other, except in color. Then I bought a royal blue two piece costume with gold fleur de lys by Pharaonics of Egypt from Audrena.
Sincerely,
Christina

My very first bra and belt was a gold Neckelmann's that I still wear and love.
My first "big girl" pro costume was a dress from Dahlal. I'm still wearing that one, too!..g.:

My first costume was a turkish workhorse too - I sold it to one of my students and it is still gowing strong 9 years later!

My first costume was love at first sight... I saw it from across the room at Dahlal's warehouse and it was an Eggplant color Egyptian Empress. It was almost a "c" cup and fit me at a size 10. I wore it a lot and it held together really well, requiring minimal upkeep. After having my baby I traded it and I now regret doing so because I wish I would have saved it for my daughter. Oh well... Live & learn.

I am not a professional dancer, but I will show one of my very early costumes (not the absolute first, not even sure I want so share my REAL first costume, LOL) and my first pro-level costume :-)
This was an ATS costume from 1999 I think.

I switched to cabaret in 2006 and got this Bella (after a LONG time oogling costumes online daily):

That photo was taken June 2009 (the first time I actually wore it, lol, yes, I bought it before I was near ready for it, but totally dont regret it!)

Re: What was your very first professional belly dance costume? (Ahhh...memories!)
Our dance teacher at that time encouraged my daughter to apply for a gig at a local restaurant, so off Ruric went and got a date... without any costume. Oh my gosh. She had seen me make so many ballet costumes for my oldest daughter that she thought this would be a snap for me. I bought black silk from Dharma (the first order of dozens!) and made the bra and the circle-and-a-half skirt with it, and the 'toppings,' which were what made the costume a costume, were a really nice coin bra drape and belt made by a local artisian. I covered the bra the night before the gig. That outfit actually lasted through hundreds of performances, and still lives on in the 'Genie' picture.
I eventually redyed the skirt (the black was faded) and added red trim for a 'tribal' look. The coin trimmings live on, ornamenting first one and then a second turquoise outfit of the exact same 'design.'
