    using dime size paillettes

    I'e collected lots of these over the years--some holographic. Has anyone done costume design w/ them w/ beads over them? i have colors that will work w/ what i want to fix---but trying to figure out how to do it. i have cut them to different shapes before also. what size needle do you use for beading?

    In this costume either dime or nickel sized pallettes trimmed the bottom of the skirt in a pyramid design. Larger size pallettes were then sewn throughout the skirt itself. I've seen pallettes as either trim used as a replacement for sequins, or to fill in bugle or rocaille fringe. Most people use a heavy button carpet thread or a light to medium weight fishline.

    Great costume, Norma. I've done stuff like that on skirts---i was going to use them on a bra and belt. If i have sorta large beads on top of the pailletes---it should work.

    thanks a great bra and belt--how come is isn't trashed---all my first bras and belts just got worn to death.You probably took better care of your stuff than i did when i was starting. I want to use the paillettes flat on the surface of the b+b instead of sequins. that's why i think big beads will work on top of them.

    Ha, ha, ha, thanks! But actualy the fact that pailliettes and plastic beads are so light, the don't pull on the threads like coins and glass beads, so the cossie is more resistant!
