    Dancer's Designs in Dahlal...

I look forward to getting the Dahlal catalogue, and I used to love seeing the new dancer's designs every issue....

but... is it my imagination, or are the designs looking awfully similar from month to month here lately? They all seem to have the ruffled skirt and choli top theme with some sort of scarves thrown over them for a "gypsy, bohemian" whatever you want to call it look.

I'm ready for a different kind of design idea!

hm. I hadn't noticed, but you're kind of right.

You should share your thoughts with Dahlal, or with Tim. I'm sure they'd want to know. Try design@dahlal.com

Unfortunately, it's kind of difficult to do much more than the Boho look when you're working with random scarves and broomstick skirts! Maybe it should be a quarterly feature rather than a monthly one

Oh, but have you looked at the older stuff? They did a lot of fantastic student costumes in different styles, it was great stuff.

Of course, it's called 'Dancer's Designs' so they may be looking to US to send in our ideas, and maybe we're falling down on the job!! ..g.:

I never paid close attention to that section, to be honest. I remember a really cool overskirt made with peacock shawls and never got ambitious enough to make it!

Maybe it is our job to submit new ideas, but I'm outta creative juice. Somebody else go first!

    Tag, Ozma, you're it ..g.:

    Tag, Ozma, you're it ..g.:
I have used up all my creative juices today and am running on empty. my right hand is a claw. I swear to god the only thing coming to me is wearing a broomstick skirt on my head and pretending to be a little girl pretending to be a princess with long hair.

Tonight I pack for Istanbul. I bring NO COSTUME PROJECTS with me.

I did that! Only it was my nightgown instead of a skirt. Mom never let my hair grow past chin-length. ..g.:

    Re: Dancer's Designs in Dahlal...

I loved some of the older ones using the scarves and the glitter skirts to make a very simple but lovely cabaret style costume.

I don't have anything against the "faire" look at all, I just noticed that last several seem similar, and I wondered if they were trying to sell those particular items, or if that's becoming more popular, or what. I figure they have a reason, but I really loved some of those older designs that mixed it up a bit.

No offense was intended toward Dahlal...I really love their store.
