Why not start with an LRose dress or trumpet skirt in red velvet. Although metalskin or holographic lycra would really twinkle! L. Rose Designs - Online Catalog
Do a bra covered in matching fabric done in the floating sahar style (clear center strap, back strap, and shoulder straps--any or all of the clear options). Example Belly Dance Store.com: gallery
Pair it with purple gauntlets and maybe just a few simple swags of pearls or crystals to make it more belly-dancey. Or add a belt with some furry pom poms like little tails. A few of the costumes at the Belly Dance Store have had these dangly pom poms and you might be able to pull it off if done well.
To complete the look, you really need a wavey auburn colored wig.

I think it might work with the other main components: side parted red hair and big boobs. lol. A jewel tone dress/costume could work, I think.
I looked around online A LOT and also at various youtube clips. I wasn't too fond of the cheap costume/wigs looks that are available.
I bought a slightly better wig, a slightly more padded bra and used a dress I already owned.

The bonus if you go the LRose route is that those pieces will hold their value. You can add them into your mix & match wardrobe or sell them quickly on the swapmeet when you're done. The bra might be tough to resell, but certainly a red trumpet skirt just in time for the holidays would get snatched up quick! By me probably...
