    Powernet and skin tone

    Does anyone know the best way to purchase powernet online to get it to match your skintone closely?

    I'm a plus size dancer, and I'm working on a new costume. I prefer not to show my belly (i.e. spare tire). I'm trying to decide if it would be better to get a powernet that matches my skin tone, or if it would be better/easier to try and match the fabric color of the skirt/top or accent color.

    I am of mixed race (african american and caucasian), and since I've found it to be difficult to match my skintone with things like makeup, I also assumed it may be hard to find a good match with powernet.

    But on the flip side, does it get to "matchy-matchy" to have the same color netting as either the main or accent color of your costume?

    Please, Help!..c::

    Thank you!

    You can request fabric swatches from Sugar Petals and probably from fabric vendors as well. I would start there.
    When you do a flesh tone body stocking you get a smooth, bare-midriff look. When you coordinate with your costume, you get a look thats more like a dress.
    I think it depends on what look you want to achieve. With a flesh toned, it goes with everything! With a color, you're limited and if you trade out costumes, you'll have to reinvest.
    A compromise might be to order flesh toned and dress them up with some detachable appliques that match your costume by harvesting pieces from the sleeves or headband or by beading your own. Don't ask me how you attach the appliques and remove them with out pilling up the body stocking fabric though! ;)

    the matching costume & body stocking "soheir zaki" look is very elegant. i know some of the sugar petals body stocking can be dyed . that would give you the option to custom dye them to your skin tone or to your costume color. of course please have her send you test swatches to practice on first ;)

    some dancers have had success using fishnet stockings in a tall size and cutting the legs off to make instant body stockings. check the professional quality dance tights companies for colors. i don't know whats out there right now and of course each color run is slightly different.

    bhuzer eshta amar does a lot of custom work, she might be able to make exactly what you need
