Dyeing bodystockings...
...to match your skintone.
What has worked the best for you? I bought a beige Dahlal tummy cover, and I'm going to need to make it darker. How do you keep it from getting too dark?

Re: Dyeing bodystockings...
3 things i have used for this kind of project, after doing a test patch somewhere that can not be seen:
1: temporary - cover the body stocking with water resistant liquid foundation. let dry. this will last for 1 or 2 shows. may run with excessive sweat. has worked for many years on elastic straps of ballet costumes. proceed with caution
2: self tanner - will also tan fabric. make sure to do a test patch somewhere you cant see when dressed. try a light formula first.
3: tea dyeing - try to get a swatch of the fabric from sugar petals cause this is the thinnest formula and can run up into the visible part of the stocking. here's a mini tutorial
Craft Basics: Tea Dyed Fabrics
rit & dylon also make "tan" colored dyes but have never used them...anyone?
good luck! may the force be with you ;)

Re: Dyeing bodystockings...
tea dyeing and coffee dyeing has worked well for me. Remember that you are dyeing a plastic based synthetic material so you will have to keep it in the dye bath for a long long long long long long long time. Like overnight and then some.

Re: Dyeing bodystockings...
Does the coffee dyeing work pretty much the same as the tea dyeing? Since I have a darker skin tone, maybe starting with coffee would be better?
Dumb question... with the tanner, do I have to worry about it getting orange?
