Thread: I just got lipgloss off of a silk veil

Managed to get pinky/nude gloss & lip liner on my beautiful silvery gray wafer thin (with pinhead size bits of silver metal throughout like stars) veil last night. It's brand new (of course, Murphy's Law..) & I wanted it out, so I searched Bhuz for a fix. Unscented liquid Ivory dish soap -it worked!

It did leave a teeny tiny discoloration that really looks like the shadow of a water stain. I only noticed it under bright bathroom light while it was against a white towel, held at an angle & got right up on it. Standing & looking at it normally (not 4" from it), it's not visible at all. This was my result, yours may vary, please proceed with caution, etc.

That being said, here's what I did, maybe it'll help someone else. I held paper towels under one side of the veil (a bath towel seemed to pull the silk too much, mine is super thin & has bits of metal decoration in it, too). Using my hands I just got the Ivory dishsoap on my fingers & dabbed it on the stain, making sure it was completely over just the stain itself. Also using hands I got water on fingers & gently (do not press) rubbed the stained area a bit, then got water onto fingers & dribbled it onto stain to rinse. Paper towels underneath soak up the water. When it's sufficiently wet enough, take more paper towels & dab (do not rub, dab or press gently) on the top. Air dry.
