    Re: At Home Bikini Wax

no tips, but can share this story found somewhere on the internet... I think my sister found it on sparks...

AGAIN, THIS DID NOT HAPPEN TO ME!!

    HAIR REMOVAL

If you can read this without laughing, you have a serious case of depression and should call someone for help!

All hair removal methods have tricked us with their promises of easy, painless removal - The epilady, scissors, razors, Nair and now...the wax. My night began as any other normal weekday night. Come home fix dinner, played with the kids. I then had the thought that would ring painfully in my mind for the next few hours: Maybe I should pull the wax out of the medicine cabinet. So I headed to the site of my demise; the bathroom. It was one of those cold wax kits. No melting a clump of hot wax, you just rub the strips together in your hand and then they get warm and you peel them apart press it to your leg (or wherever else) and hair comes right off. No muss, no fuss. How hard can it be? I mean I'm no girly, girl but I am mechanically inclined enough that I can figure it out. *YA THINK!!!*

So I pull one of the thin strips out. Its two strips facing each other stuck together. Instead of rubbing them together, I get out the hair dryer and heat it to 1000 degrees.
Cold wax my rear end (Oh how this phrase haunts me!) I lay the strip across my thigh. Hold the skin around it tight and pull. OK so it wasn't the best feeling, but it wasn't too bad. I can do this! Hair removal no longer eludes me! I am She-ra, fighter of all wayward body hair and smooth skin extraordinaire. With my next wax strip I move north.

After checking on the kids I sneak back into the bathroom, for the ultimate hair fighting championship. I drop my panties and place one foot on the toilet. Using the same procedure I apply the was strip across the right side of bikini line, covering the right half of my vagina and stretching down to the inside of my butt cheek (Yes, it was a long strip) I inhale deeply and brace myself. RRRRIIIPPP!!!! I'm blind!!! Blinded from pain!!!!....OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!! Vision returning, I notice that I've only managed to pull off half of the strip. S&%T!!! Another deep breath and RRIIPP. Everything is swirly and spotted. Do I hear crashing drums??? OK, back to normal. I want to see my trophy - A wax covered strip with my hairy pelt that has caused me so much pain, sticking to it. I want to revel in the glory that is my triumph over body hair. I hold up the strip! There's no hair on it. Where is the hair? WHERE IS THE WAX??? Slowly I ease my head down, foot still perched on the toilet. I see the hair. The hair that should be on the strip. I touch. I am touching wax. S&%T I run my fingers over the most sensitive part of my body, which is now covered in cold wax and matted hair.

Then I make the next BIG mistake...................remember my foot is still propped up on the toilet. I know I need to do something. So I put my foot down. DAMN!!!!!!!! I hear the slamming of the cell door. Vagina? Sealed shut. Butt?? Sealed shut. I penguin walk around the bathroom trying to figure out what to do and think to myself "Please don't let me get the urge to poop. My head may pop off. "Hot water!! Hot water melts wax!! I'll run the hottest water I can stand into the bathtub, get in, immerse the wax covered bits and the wax should melt and I can gently wipe it off right??? *WRONG!!!!!!!*I get in the
tub - the water is slightly hotter than then that used to torture prisoners of war or sterilize surgical equipment - I sit. Now, the only thing worse than having your either businesses glued together is having them glued together and then glued to the bottom of the tub. In scalding hot water. Which, by the way, doesn't melt cold wax. So, now I'm stuck to the bottom of the tub!! God bless the man that convinced me I should have a phone in the bathroom!!!!! I call my friend thinking surely she's waxed before and has some secret of how to get me undone. It's a very good conversation starter "So, my butt and who-ha
are stuck to the bottom of the tub!"

There is a slight pause. She doesn't have a secret trick but does try to hide the laughter from me. She wants to know exactly where the wax is located on bottom "Are we talking cheeks or hole or what?" She's laughing out loud by now...I can hear her. I give her the rundown and she suggests I call the
number on the side of the box. YEAH!!!!! Right!! I should be the joke of someone else's night.

While we go through various solutions. I resort to scraping the wax off with a razor. Nothing feels better then to have your girlie goodies covered in hot wax, glued shut, stuck to the tub in super hot water and then dry shaving the sticky wax off!! By now the brain is not working, dignity has taken a major hike and I slip into glazed donut land. My friend is still talking with me and my hand reaches towards the saving grace....the lotion
they give you to remove the excess wax. What do I really have to lose at this point? I rub some on and OH MY GOD!!!!!!! The scream probably woke the kids, scared the dickens out of my friend, but I really don't care. "IT WORKS!! It works!! I get a hearty congratulation from my friend and she hangs up. I successfully remove the remainder of the wax and then notice to my grief and despair..................................T
HE HAIR IS STILL THERE.......................ALL OF IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. So I shaved it off. Heck, I'm numb at this point.
Next week I'm going to try hair color......

Yeah, that was pretty much exactly my experience with at-home waxing.

A friend of mine -- the toughest chick I know -- tried to give herself a hot wax brazilian. In the end, she had to call a friend to come over and rip the wax off for her, she just couldn't do it.

Good luck, Samira! (I know you're no dainty little snowflake or anything, but damn.)

I use Moom. It's the best stuff out there, very easy to use. If you can teach someone at home to do it for you, even better.

I can post directions if you need.

I did laser hair removal. It's the best, but quite expensive. And because I'm blond, the treatment takes even longer because laser doesn't "see" hair roots very well. But I'm very happy now. I don't have any more hair on the body.

I have been pretty happy with shaving for years, I just wish I didn't have to do it so often.

I have heard such good things about laser hair removal but I fear the commitment. What if "jungle bush" comes back in style? ..l;,

Ana, how many treatments did it take? Do you know what type of laser it was? I had my legs done - couldn't handle the bikini area because it's a slightly darker color and the laser hurt like a dickens.

I like the hard wax because you don't need to use strips. I have my boyfriend help me. He pulls while I make the skin taught. I've used other waxes but my experience is that they take off the top layer of skin - I have really sensitive skin. The only con regarding the hard wax is you use more of it, and you can't use the strips with it because the wax will not adhere to the strips.

I love Nair. Love, love love the smooth feeling it gives my legs.

But I never cross my legs. During the 10 minutes it's on, I take a wide-legged stance in front of the mirror and brush my teeth, tweeze my brows, exfoliate my face, etc.

BUT I'm only neatening the bikini line, I don't go for the pre-pubescent look, so it's not too close to....anything delicate/valuable.

Nair works for me because I don't have sensitive skin or very dense hair. My Italian friends don't have such a great experience.

I've used Nair on my pits.

    Red.

    Inflamed.

    Swollen.

Had to hold my arms like Frankenstein for about a week.

Thank whatever deity had me try it there BEFORE heading towards hoohaa land

Ha! Not a fan of the prepube look either. I just tend to wear some preeetty little bikinis and also go to family beaches. Somethings gotta give!

Nair irritated my skin and didnt really remove all of the hair on my legs. Thank goddess I stayed away from woohaa zone!

I have pretty fine hair so I am hoping the wax will do the trick.

Which products do you suggest I try Azhia?

Let me tell ya, I actually get "raw" because I have hair. There's no protection from the stuff. Other than the hair on my head (top of head, brows, lashes - that's about it), hair is my true, hell bound enemy... and I'm a blonde.

    I am dying here!!!

Thank goodness I got something good from my Polynesian ancestors, my hair only grows back on my armpits and when I am pregnant. I shave my legs and woohaaa and it takes a month to grow back.

If the bush look comes back well, I might be out of luck. Unless Merkin decides to design this look.

Well, I asked that when I decided to take off almost "everything"... I was told: "if it does come back in style, people won't have hair any longer". And it will be true...

    Re: At Home Bikini Wax

Laser does not work unless you have been consistently waxing an area for years. Years. I have not had hair on my underarms for years. But I do have hair that grew back in other regions. The laser was not worth the pain and cost, even after "maintenance" treatments.

Once you become "accustomed" to waxing, it's fine. The hairs take some time to get used to the trauma but once you do it enough, it gets easier. I've been at this for over 15 years.

    1) you need at least 1/8" growth.

    2) heat the wax by putting the Moom container in a saucepan, heat until consistency of HONEY.

    3) wash the area to be waxed w/ soap & warm water. DO NOT exfoliate just before or just after, but in between waxing is highly recommended to prevent in grown hairs.

    4) once dry, apply a LIGHT, very light, dusting of corn starch or baby powder.

    5) dip the stick into the honey, wipe ONE flat edge, wipe ONE narrow edge. The amount remaining is exactly what you need.

    6) apply wax IN DIRECTION OF HAIR GROWTH. Only a thin layer is needed.

6)a. 1 area may require several applications, since hair grows in different directions. Also, 1 plane at a time, account for curves.

    7) press the cloth firmly onto the area, briskly and firmly rub the area IN DIRECTION OF HAIR GROWTH 3 x. 1, 2, 3.

    8) pull the area taut, anchor one hand at the base of the area AGAINST direction of hair growth.

    9) pull ALONG the skin, in other words parallel to the skin, NOT UP, AGAINST direction of hair growth. Apply immediate pressure to the area to relieve pain, if needed.

I highly recommend you have someone do this for you. My former aesthetician could do it on herself and I've attempted it on myself but it's just too difficult b/c of the leverage needed to do a decent job. The person doing it for you can see everything and get at the stubborn and hidden hairs. And depending on the person, it does not ruin the "wonderful mystery of the vajayjay." ..g.:
