Question on reinforcing yarn tassels on belt
I have a tribalish belt with yarn tassels that hang from about 8" of braided yarn. I see there is a little bell (shaped like the jingle bells at christmas) placed in each tassel. I was worried while dancing, they would rub on the yarn and eventually slice through.
I have some stuff called stop fray (it looks like white Elmer's glue but dries clear) that I was going to apply around the base of the yarn just above the top of the tassels where the bell rests. Will this help? Or is there a better way?
Thanks

.w.: Sorry to be a pest but surely there is someone out there that has had this problem? I am concerned the tassels will sever over time.

Re: Question on reinforcing yarn tassels on belt
Given that one usually only wears these belts during performance, haflas and dress rehearsal, I don't think there is too much to worry about. Just keep and eye on it, and if it becomes necessary, replace the worn out parts before anything breaks.

Re: Question on reinforcing yarn tassels on belt
I wouldn't think that the bell would be heavy enough to saw through the yarn. If you are really worried, you could find matching yarn and run another string through it if the hole is big enough.

Re: Question on reinforcing yarn tassels on belt
I'm not understanding how the bell connects to the tassel. (Knotted yarn? Looped yarn?) If it would be easy to open up/replace whatever that mechanism is, you could buffer where the bell and tassel meet by putting the bell on a split ring first (like a miniature key ring; less likely to have the bell slip off than a jump ring). In other words, if you currently have: bell<->tassel, change it to bell<-((split ring))->tassel.

Re: Question on reinforcing yarn tassels on belt
Okay so there is braided yarn about 1/4" thick and 8" long. At the end is a tassel made of same yarn. The bell is just strung onto the braided part and rests on top of the tassel. I was just concerned that moving and dancing in it would cause friction and the tassel would be sawed off.

Re: Question on reinforcing yarn tassels on belt
So you would have to unbraid it to get the bell off?
