Thread: Anyone have the Pharaonics "Vintage Vision" coin costume?

This costume really caught my eye among Dahlal's newest offerings, and now I just saw it on Bellydancestore, too. I was wondering if anyone has it yet, and what you think of it! I love the concept of Dahlal's "American Icon" coin costume, but have never been thrilled with the quality of it. This looks like it might be a slightly more upscale version of that. It does concern me that it looks like it has those plastic beads with the color that peels off of them, though.

I would especially love to see photos!

Hi Anjela...good taste! This caught my eye as well..I jumped on it when BD store had it first up. I ended up returning until they have another size....but it is fabulous! It is on a great base..nice shape with sequin as well...cool sound and awesome look! Great deal! I hope to see ya in one!

Sorry, I know this thread's a little old, but I'm wondering about this set, too.

Tanya, do you recall if the cups were somewhat deep, or were they short vertically and longer horizontally?

another question, on the American Icon, the coins literally scratch my arms, are the coins on this similar or smooth?

I am curious about it too. I've been eyeing it for a bit! ;-)

It is gorgeous and really well made. Solid coin movement, jingling and nice composition and texture in design. It looks even prettier in person. I allllmost took that one home. It is a winner for sure.

Thanks so much for the info. After much prodding from others, I'm just now dipping into the professional rhelm. I'd like to get a really versatile set like this. However, I almost feel guilty considering it when I could probably make do with the Fortune and Fame. Being such good quality, though, it would be a good investment...so I guess I'll just have too.

Bumping this thread up... with Dahlal's custom order deal going on right now, I am sorely tempted to get this costume. But I still hesitate to order one without being able to see it close-up. Does anyone have any photos they wouldn't mind sharing?

I don't have photos, but I tried one on at the bellydance store in Maryland and thought the quality was great (as I would expect from Pharaonics). Regarding the plastic beads - since they're gold, you could probably easily find nail polish or model paint to keep on hand in case they start chipping.

Kiyaana, can you comment on the edging of the coins? My AI scratches the crap out of my arms, and although I like the look, I'd prefer not to be bloodstained or look like I lost a fight with my bedla...

I don't remember the edges, but the coins are only on the front of the cups - they aren't on the bra band sides or back (bra & belt are sequin bases with coins and beads on top). Would that make a difference compared to your AI? The close-up pic at the bottom might help you compare the coins. The pics on Dahlal.com show more of a side view so you can see the coin placement on the bra.

that does help, the AI has coins all over, so that would really impact the damage area, thanks!!
