My white skirt is SEE Through!!! Help me fix it!
Ok, I just received my custom Spiraling Jewels from Dahal in white and gold-the skirt is white with gold sequins and the underskirt is this beautiful buttery gold, which makes like a cream effect. However, it is not cream enough to hide my legs lol. It is completely see through. What would be the easiest way to fix it? I am mainly curious about attaching another skirt under it vs wearing a seperate skirty, which can be bulky. If I wanted to say add 2 more layers in the front and back of white chiffon, how do I do that exactly? I am just imagining sewing in yards of chiffon, by hand, joy.......
Would you first attach the chiffon to like a piece of ribbon or something like that and then just sew the ribbon???

i think that's what i would do. not only will it be easier "just" sewing the chiffon to ribbon rather than in a costume that'd keep your hands full (and the stress of getting it right the first time lol), but also will make things easier if you decide to remove the additional part for some reason or other (too much bulk or whatnot)
or the easy option ---> hotpants underneath!

I've been thinking of doing a glitter-dot skirt for my white costume - if I can find white glitter dot (I've only seen silver here)...I'd do a one-circle skirt (or less) to keep from adding bulk.

Is the problem that you don't want the silhouette of your legs visible through stage lights or you want more coverage to smooth out your line? Most fabric stores should sell white Lycra, which would give you some substance underneath with less effort than two layers of chiffon (unless you are going for the voluminous petticoat look). You might also look into white stretch satin--that would be very opaque but still with some elasticity. Or you could wear leggings--dance and theatrical supply stores should carry them in a variety of finishes.

Right now JoAnn has a less-sheer "sheer" in their "Halloween Satins & Sheers" section. I'm pretty sure I saw white. It's only $3.99/yd and is already on sale for 30% off. When I doubled it up (in another color), I couldn't see my hand very well through it. I was thinking it's a great option for underskirts, so it might be the right fabric for this situation.
I think sewing it to grosgrain ribbon and then stitching it to the other skirts is a great idea.

I would just attach 1 layer of white chiffon ( 1 circle). Having already 2 layers, I think this should do it. I think lycra might add too much bulk.
All you have to do it hem the inside circle of this layer (where normally you would add a casing) and just hand sew that to the skirt, with overlaps. It is just as easy to remove as if you first sewed it to a ribbon, but you have less work to put it on, because you're not doing the sewing twice (first to the ribbon then to the skirt)

Thanks! I got them from a dance studio where I used to teach. They had a boutique that sold Nia wear, and I ordered the pants. You can check the Nia website (Nia | Through Movement We Find Health) to see if they still carry them.
If not, I just happen to know someone who might be able to knock off the pattern for you. ..g.:
