Sugar Petals makes a belt base that is approximately that shape. You need to dart it to fit (especially if you have an ample derriere).

The "Kismet" is the closest to what you are describing. You just need to trim the point off the front piece.

Re: Pattern for Samia Gamal Style belt?
Hum! I made one once, and I'm still looking for the pattern among my stuff!.w.: (lost all my patterns during a recent moving!..c::)
Anyway, it looks like something like this:

From this website: Ïîøèâ îñíîâû ïîÿñà äëÿ òàíöà æèâîòà
But I would make it a bit larger and has mentionned by Maia and Kharis, you need to dart it to make it more cuping on the tooshy!
Here a pic of mine:
Have fun!

Re: Pattern for Samia Gamal Style belt?
thanks ladies:
sugarpetals makes a kismet style? hmm, never seen it. dont see it now either. am i missing something on a different page maybe? i've used their classic for years but haven't successfully modified it to the samia.
how do you get the correct gradual decrease in thickness back to front? just trial and error or is there some cool math formula / ratio?
thanks. great link. its much more u shaped than i thought. yours turned out great. my first attempt looked like a diaper crossed with a girdle :/

followup question: is it silly to make a separate skirt. does logic demand an attached skirt? safety pins are out of the question cause i'm thinking of using the silk chiffon i've been hoarding.

Re: Pattern for Samia Gamal Style belt?

this is one I made some years ago. You cannot see the full outline beneath the fringing but the fringing is the same length as the belt. It's made in 3 parts... back and two fronts and has multiple pleats and tucks as this is the only way to get a truly snug fit with no gaps at the sides and top and bottom.
