    removing mildew from costume

I searched the forums already but nothing came up.

I have a costume (skirt and bra) made of stretch velvet (I actually bought it here on Bhuz). The skirt has little tiny gray mildew spots. I can take care of the smell with vodka, but how do I get rid of the spots?
Online I have seen lot of solutions but they involve washing the fabric. I really don't want to wash the skirt because the top is completely covered with sequins and beads. If I only wash the bottom part, I am afraid that the fabric would fade (some of solutions suggested it might happen).

So I need spot removal tips. The spots are really small right now, not noticeable unless very close, but I want to take care of them now.

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

oh no! that sux. what about spot washing the skirt with q-tips dipped in very mild soapy water and just rubbing the spots, then "rinse" by dabbing with cotton ball soaked in plain cool water? worth a try. good luck!

Thanks ! I wasn't sure if just soapy water would do it. Online I saw advice that included washing the fabric in butter milk, then detergent, etc, and some other weird stuff.
Does soap alone take out the grayness?

    i can't say for sure.
alcohol dipped qtips with a little rubbing will fix a bra lining that has mildew spots. but i don't know about the outer face of the fabric.
in this heat, we better find a fast fix :/
