Question Is there such a thing as metallic fringe?

I am looking for a long fringe belt and I see them all over in various colors, but I wanted something that would sparkle a bit under lights. Is there such a thing as this? Where can I find it?

I haven't seen sparkly long fringe belts but what a great idea. You could add sparkle to an existing long fringe belt by cutting lengths of metallic chain and attaching it an intervals along the top edge of the belt. Can't think of anything else that long and sparkly. You can buy rolls of fine chain at hardware stores, you could even attach a small coin or bead at the end of each chain.

Also, on tribe a lot of people have been making "fringe" overskirts by taking ugly but colorful cotton broomstick skirts, slashing them into strips (keeping the strips still attached to the waistband) and then braiding the strips. I was going to try this with a sparkly eyelash skirt that I found, but people said the fabric would unravel so I've been afraid to try it. Some people also cut glitter dot into long strips for "fringe" but of course it wouldn't look or move like the fine rayon fringe.

This may not be long enough, but Theatre House has short metallic and longer hologram fringe: Theatre House, Inc. 1-800-827-2414: Fringe & Other Trims

You can also google "Mylar Fringe". You see it alot on horse gear, cowboy chaps and such at rodeos. I've been looking into it to use on belt for a "Christmas bedlah" idea that I've got rattling around in my head.

OOOH now that's getting there. They have 12" but I think I'd need at least 18" This is to wear with a pretty peacock bedlah I just bought on the swap meet. I am pairing it with a sage green skirt and royal blue metalic fringe belt will add the blue color and some flash.

I would think you need to weight it with something at the bottom of each strand. I could use a regular 18" fringe belt and then interdisperse the fringe with the mylar fringe. I am thinking it's so light it wouldn't stay down.

one note about mylar- keep it away from heat and heaters or it will shrivel!

I started another thread on maybe sewing little sequins on random strands of a plain, blue fringe belt (same color sequins.) I don't sew and am craft-challenged so I am lost....
