    Murphy's Law

Face broke out last night. On my chin, one of those deep sore ones that gets shiney & pink & just looks sooo attractive even under makeup. I'm meeting with a potential client on Thursday (of course, Murphy's Law) & I need this gone, like now.

I put tea tree oil on it this morning, but I'm open to anyone else's tried & true proven remedies. And makeup tips.

Clinique has a zit blaster, I forget the name. But it dries the blemish out pretty fast. If you go to the counter and ask for it by that name, they will know what you are talking about.

    Doesn't that just frost ya?

If they're still forming, or new ones are forming, you can ice them. The ice can help reduce the redness and swelling so they might not get as big and your body can reabsorb them faster.

The icing really only helps in the early stages, but it can help.

Try grinding up uncoated aspirin tablets and mixing them with a little bit of honey. Dab it on the area and let it sit until dry. It also make a great scrub.

There's an ointment that's considered old school medicine. An elderly neighbor called it a drawing salve. It was black and thick, packaged in a tube like toothpaste. It was Icamathol or something similar. As a teen I was usually barefootusual and often stepped on pine cones. I was unable to remove the sharp pointed burrs and both feet became infected. The neighbor would coat the soles of my feet with the black ointment and I wore socks to bed. Amazing results. Warning - the ointment will stain fabric so cover with a bandaid to avoid mishaps. Works with splinters, rose thorns, etc.

I like Almay's clear complexion concealer. It's the only concealer that I've found that actually covers up my redness. I don't have any remedies, but my dermatologist said I can take a double dose of antibiotics when my face flares up.

Here's a model's trick - make a paste of an aspirin tablet (has to be real aspirin, not a substitute) and a little bit of Visine (or any eye drops) and put it on the pimple a let it dry - then rinse off. Do this a couple of times a day. The aspirin reduces the swelling and eye drops "gets the red out!"

ok, this one might be very hard to get your hands on, but surprisingly it works!
basically you need clay. not the artificial stuff you find in craft supply stores, but the real rock. you then add a few droplets of water onto a small lump of the clay and apply on your spot (try to get it pretty thin, but not see thru). let it dry for 10-15 mins and scrub off with hot, then cool water. it may look reddish at first but after just minutes it shrinks and turns the color of your skin.

If you are going to put clay on your skin, make sure there are no cuts. Clay contains silica, which is a carcinogen, and you don't want it to get into any open wounds. Clay is also extremely drying, and it will suck the moisture out of your skin.

I was also going to suggest using eye drops to reduce the redness... never tried the asprin paste...what a great trick

,f::OMG I REMEMBER THIS OINTMENT SO WELL, is there any place to still get this stuff?Does it still cure anything like a cist or a so called boil which my mom used to treat my brother's with this ICAMATHOL it was like a miracle version of vaseline back in the day.I could really use some of this stuff right now because of a giant thing on me as we speak, and it would also prevent me from going to the dr. to have it surgically removed like they are suggesting now.If there is somewhere that this stuff still exists please let me know

searched around the internets a little:

Draw Out Salve - Ichthammol Ointment 20% - Specialty Items

Where Can I Buy Ichthammol Ointment? - Blurtit

might be other places? If you search around a little with "ichmathol" (there seems to be an "h" in it) and "buy" or "where to buy" or "purchase" or maybe "for sale"

Don't bother with 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, use 5% gel for spot treatments. Put a nice thick blob on the zit and let it dry.
