Qs about Folkwear patterns
I have been working with the Turkish dancer a few times, with excellent success, love Folkwear ;-) But, a few specific questions to my fellow seamstresses:
1. I have an older, bought 2nd hand, Afghani dress pattern - does anybody know what the difference is between the more recent and the older versions of the same pattern? My Afghani dress had fairly short, handwritten instructions, while my newer Turkish dancer has typed, easier to understand and more detailled liner notes, which makes me wonder whether there an advantage to getting a more recent version? Would I get better liner notes?
2. I got an old silk sari which is a bit short, and I would like to make into the Afghani dress. It's at most 5 yards, so I will have to adapt things a bit and make the skirt a lot less full. Does anybody have any experiences to share?
3. For another project, I am trying to decide between the Gaza and the Syrian (made w/o the overlay piece) dress, patterns #101 and #105. Apart from the overlay, these two look very similar to me. If somebody who has made both could shed some light on the differences, especially in terms of overall fit, that would be great!
Thanks a lot.
