would you prefer solid or two tone colors for silk skirts or akai colors?
I'm debating whether to offer habotai silk skirts or stick with the lustrous charmeuse silk skirts..am up for feedback on this?
Bellydance Silk Circle Skirts
1) I could offer habotai skirts for part timers or student dancers, these are a bit less expensive.
2) The charmeuse silk costs more but would be a higher end professional item .
3) how much yardage do you prefer on your circle skirts? Do you like full or like the slim look? Would cost of silk influence your decision (since silk is expensive)
4) I love dyeing the akai colors but dyeing that much silk in akai colors IS tough..
which akai colors do you prefer if i were to focus on just a few
5) what solid colors would you like to see?
6) I've asked this before but how about solid veils to match or would you prefer the colorful veils to go with?
I'm going thru this two tone phase all of a sudden..blending simple classic bellydance colors like burgundy/purple, deep red/pink, dark blue/purple, deep green/deep blue..very simple colors ..guess I'm just trying something new.
how do you feel about simple two tones?
thanks for the feedback

Re: would you prefer solid or two tone colors for silk skirts or akai colors?
1 vs. 2: I prefer the chameuse, and am happy to pay a bit extra - not sure at what price difference the balance would change for me.
3 - as much as possible. I'd totally go for 15 yards at the hem (2 1/2 circles) if I had the option. Anything less than a circle is a waste of great talent and perfectly nice silk ;-)
4 - I am most into turquoise/blue/burgundy/copper, and accordingly prefer the slightly more muted/mellow combinations, which is of course somewhat of a relative descriptor.
5 - I can do w/o that.
6 - multi-color
7 - two-tones are a great match for some costumes, but they are not my #1 pick.

Re: would you prefer solid or two tone colors for silk skirts or akai colors?
3. I prefer the full look for silk...I think it is more appropriate for the fabric "flow."
4. I prefer bright colors instead of pastels. To me, it seems the red, orange, golds are so dramatic in the silk and the blue green, turqs have that fluid water feel.
5. I really wouldn't invest in a solid silk skirt...maybe a layer of two solids. I can get a nice solid skirt in many other fabrics.
6. I'm over being too matchy-matchy...I like the veils to be an accents.
7. I love the idea of two tones..a two-tone dark blue to purple would be great for one of my bedlahs!

I second 4-jen. Skirt yardage should be at least 12 yards.

I must live in a cave because I have never seen this site before. I have now saved it to my Favorites!

1. What's a "bit"? It would deoend how dramatic the price difference was.
3. Full for sure
4. I love the firey or the watery combos myself, but you could simply look at what's most popular with your customers.
5.mmmm... not sure if I would go completely solid.
6. I love the multi color veils.
2 tones would be lovely.
:)

Re: would you prefer solid or two tone colors for silk skirts or akai colors?
1-2) i like the idea of you offering both. because, i like pretty practice/streetwear stuff but don't like paying loads on them cos i know they end up suffering a lot of wear. performance wear is another issue however, i'd gladly pay more for something *really* pretty (once i'll be less broke haha ^^)
3) they're different styles. i like both, depending on the overall costuming style.. personally cost isn't my main issue when choosing a style, the general look is what'll affect that mostly. (i will think twice if something is ridiculously expensive, but if it's worth it...)
4) fave akai colors... dude, so many ^^ i think the 'fire' and 'sunset' colors would probably work great for skirts. would you offer the others as custom orders and/or occasional specials?
as for the two-tones, i think those would be awesome. be it two different colors, or ombres, i think they'd be really great as skirts. they'd probably be the easiest to work with costuming-wise too, easy to pic which to wear with what bedlah. i think they'd probably work better that the usual akai colors, actually. and for the same reason (easy to decide what to wear with) i think they'd be better for any streetwear/habotai skirts.
oh, and 6) Multi-color veils!! that's what makes you rock so much :D

Re: would you prefer solid or two tone colors for silk skirts or akai colors?
1. fuller skirt
2. Both. I'm only a hobbyist but would rather have a good quality performance item. Cheaper practice wear would be nice though.
4. Bright colours. Personal favorites are shades of purple and magenta.
5. Deep rich colours. Personal favorites blues, purples, dark pinks, dark green.
6. prefer fancier veil, simpler skirt. I have a butterfly merkaba skirt that is gorgeous but just overwhelms any bedlah.

I love the multi-colored skirts! And I think I'm the only person on earth who likes the slimmer look, but I'd like to see you make skirts in the bad-ass vintage style like I'm wearing below (with matching boyshorts, of course!):

It's kind of a 1/4-circle in the front with a bigger panel in the back (3/4 circle, I think). Lots of leg at the sides. Maybe you could do this on a drawstring so the wearer can close it up for modesty
Petite sizes would be lovely. And I'd like a pet pony while we're at it, kthanx ,r:;

Re: would you prefer solid or two tone colors for silk skirts or akai colors?
Full skirts. . . full circle to 1.5 circles. YUMMY!
I would personally love to see a "fire" skirt and a "water" skirt - even two-tone would rock. Would love to see these offered with a 'gypsy' style tie top or even another hunk of fabric so that one could make their own top!
If you were to focus on Akai colors, my personal faves are:
Tickle Me Teal, Salivate, KAta, Twu's Song, Crimson Fire, Gold Merkaba...

Full skirts with 2 slits! I would love a red silk skirt with a matching 2 tone veil or akai colored one. I like the idea of a solid skirt with a multi colored veil.

I am loving the 2-tones you've been doing lately, Jes.
I'm not a silk skirt kinda customer, though, so I won't comment. Don't get me wrong, I adore them! I'm just too broke to spend what they're worth.

I think that all of your designs are great!
I like the wrap skirts, because they aren't so full. I wonder if you could make flared, straight, and 25 yard skirts?Last edited by daveenadivine; 09-14-2009 at 11:25 PM.

Re: would you prefer solid or two tone colors for silk skirts or akai colors?
CHARMEUSE. Definitely. I love the feel and the flow.
1 to 1.5 circles.
Colors: definitely bold, deep, rich colors--no pastels for me! Mur-maid, Temple Peacock, Katerina, Prozac (!!), Temptation, Bird of Paradise.
Two-tones: yes. Solids: no thanks.
And veils? The more colorful, the better!
ETA: add another resounding YES to the wrap skirts! Wonderful for street wear, as well as just stroking and admiring. (Oh, like *you've* never done it! ..l;,)Last edited by wv_wahine; 09-14-2009 at 11:38 PM.

I love 3 panel skirts (1.5 circles) I have three of yours. Two Akai colours and one mottled browns and golds. I think most of them are 8mm which moves well, but charmeuse would probably do as well. As it is silk, it should have plenty of crush factor.

Yes, to 1.5 circle charmeuse in Sunrise Merkaba with front slits. I like one suggestion about a matching 'hunk of fabric to make your own top' although wouldn't that describe a veil? Still hoping you will make a Sunrise Merkaba longer length tunic top.

Re: would you prefer solid or two tone colors for silk skirts or akai colors?
so many projects so little time hehehehe
Women are the ultimate multi-taskers. I just need the universe to add another few hours to each day
but...I haven't forgotten about this. I'm on 'waiting period' now for the official clinical to start at Mayo (waiting for final paperwork) so I'm hoping to bust a minor move this week and get some projects on launch mode
hope is the key word :)
but I'm glad there is interest :)

Re: would you prefer solid or two tone colors for silk skirts or akai colors?
1) I'd so go for different stuff in the de luxe version for special occasions and more moderately priced practice gear. As for practice gear I must say having a blouse and skirt combo would be awesome.. or having an overskirt and blouse style matching to wear over regular pants. I am desperately searching for something in GREAT colours to wear for practice. Colours do so much for me for getting into a good mood ..l;,
A propos overskirt: The white banner at the very top of the site - do you make this style?? That s EXACTLY what I have been searching for in a LONG time!
2) For a deluxe item I'd definitely go for charmeuse and full full full.
3) I do like the slim look too. If I can afford I'd get both.
4) Fire. Or white with red and orange or magenta for summer, bronze khaki rich brown burgundy etc for autumn..
5) what solid colors would you like to see?
Intense colours, and colours that may match classic costume colours, but not be exactly like them. I picture everybody has purple or red or turquoise skirts in other materials. I'd much rather go for slightly different colours for something new. Mango yellow instead of yellow. Deep emerald rather than regular green. Teal rather than turquoise, such colours.
6) I've asked this before but how about solid veils to match or would you prefer the colorful veils to go with?
I'D rather have one or two very unique veils. Mostly colourful ones.

I like all your stuff, probably wouldn't buy solid veils though, miss the gypsy tops with matching layered wrap skirts.

I am so bored with solid colors. 2 tones are super! red/purple, green/blue, orange/fuschia, love black with ANY COLOR, earth tones....I prefer heavier silk-what is the difference in the silks you use?
