    sewing halter bra opinion

I am finishing up altering my costume.(easy just moving hooks and eyes around, not a huge project this time)
I have a halter style bra. I got a suggestion of sewing my halter part by Lauren(sewing the belt together worked out great! major difference thanks!) I moved the hooks and eyes to where its comfortable, but I feel its still tight on my neck. So I figured sew the halter instead together. Still a bit tight for my comfort level. So I un-stitched where I sewed, But would the halter part hold up if I added a bit of elastic on the back neck part of bra. (It will be hidden underneath my hair) I think its a good idea, has any one tried it? Any opinions or other suggestions would be appreciated. I want the halter part, not make me feel like I'm choking.
    Thanks!!

Elastic will work. Exposed elastic isn't pretty and will wear out.

Can you find a plain fabric that matches the straps to make an extension? Even something like bias tape, maybe.

Then run elastic inside the extension for snugness and comfort. The elastic will last longer when it's covered.

Please be careful with a neck strap that is too tight, it can cause damage.

I've used elastic in halter bras before, but nitewindz says it'll wear out. The casing/bias tape idea is brilliant, though! The elastic will still likely wear out, but at least it won't be as fast.

Even with elastic your neck is likely to feel the pressure.

IMO the thing need to do is put 2 straps that go from the center of the neck down to the back of the band. This relieves the pressure from your neck.

    Like this:

This configuration makes halter bras amazingly comfortable and on me at least really enhances the lift of the bra (=better cleavage!).

I should add that I have done this with the matching anklets that come with costumes, but you can do it with satin ribbon in a coordinating color and safety pins.

In the pic above, the thin straps making the racer back were originally the halter straps, and I removed them and made the anklets the halter.

    Sedonia,
That's an even better way than elastic, seems more comfortable. Its a Pharonics, so I have the extra anklets to use. Seeing the pic makes it clear. I know what tomorrows project will be.
