    Sahars? Are they worth it?

    Hi Ladies!

I really love sahars and am constantly eye-ing them, but I am just curious what current sahar owners think. The ones I love are always pricey, so I am curious if the fit is exceptional? do they move well when you dance? do they stay in place when you dance?

please help feed my costume addiction!

Re: Sahars? Are they worth it?

Oh, I have to answer this! I was one of those dancers who used to be very suspicious of Sahars because of the price. I was always like "oh well, there`s not even much work on them, like, does she think I am STUPID, I know those stones didnt cost enough to justify THAT price snark snark snark". Then, this winter, I ended up in Sahar`s atelier with one of my teachers, and was asked to model the costumes because Sahar needed some pics for a vendor or something. So then I found myself wearing, and dancing around in (for the pics) around 50 of her costumes. And I was totally sold after the very first one. ..l;,

First of all, the workmanship is really solid. Time after time I would not dare to squeeze into a costume in fear of ruining it, and she would just say "don`t worry, my costumes are solid!" and pull it on me. Nothing ever fell off. Second, the work is just beauuuuutiful. There are SO many details that you can`t see in the pics of the websites at all. Just the way she uses colours, and makes little cascades of star-shaped beads, and the shapes, and...everything. Her most elaborate costumes look like pieces of art, I tried on costumes with mirrors, with little balls (kept me entertained for ages as I swiveled them around with hip twists ..l;,), with feathers, with coloured cubes on metal threads... And now you might think "well why should I spend so much money just for tiny decorations, noone will see my cascade of stars from a huge stage anyway", which brings us to...the FIT.

I don`t know what it is, but there is something magical about a Sahar that makes you feel like a million dollars. The bras give you super-boobs, and the skirts flow beautifully. I am 154 cm short, and I have NEVER seen a skirt with two slits that looks good on me and my short, stubby legs, but ta-daaaa, suddenly I was dressed in a 2-slitted leopard bedlah that was even flattering on me. And trust me, that is an accomplishment!

And forth, if you are planning to buy directly from her, Sahar herself is a joy to deal with. She is a lovely, intelligent lady, and she is professional through and through. If you make an appointment with her, she is there on time. There is no Egyptian time where you will be kept waiting for an hour until she shows up. There is no pressure to buy anything and she doesn`t try to butter you up with compliments with everything you try on. And if she tells you that your costume will be ready on Monday, 3 PM, it really WILL be ready Monday, 3 PM. If you have ever waited so long for your costumes that you are almost crying with fear of losing your flight home, you know what a relief that is

So yeah, definitely a Sahar-fan here! I now own three and am planning for more, MOOORE
