    Re-shaping bra cups?

I got a great deal on a brand new (if shop worn) Pharonics Pyramid bedlah, and one of the cups is a bit dented and misshapen. How can I get it to go back to it's normal, more rounded shape?

    Thanks!

    Is that cup smaller?

I'm not sure if it really is smaller, or if it just feels smaller because it's a bit dented.

Can you open the material up and get in there to gently push it out? Either that or you could pad the other one a little bit to "dent" that one too. I'm probably not making any sense here. . .

Anala has in the past shared a very intricate and idiosyncratic method for reshaping bra cups that involves grapefruit. You can probably find it through search.

I'm remembering that for future use myself.

    Re: Re-shaping bra cups?

Oh, I just hate those dented bra cups! Here's my "cure":

    1. After removing bra cup lining and any paddding, I sew in 1" wide strips of buckram firmly across top edge of bra cup. I use at least 2 or 3 layers of buckram depending on how much "support" is need to bolster up the dented bra cup. Cut edges of buckram are sharp, so I fold it in half lengthwise so cut edge doesn't poke through cup lining when it's replaced.

    2. I then sew in 1" strips of buckram (again 2 or 3 layers) criss-cross up and down and across middle of bra cup. Idea is to provide a strong "skeleton" to permanently push out dent and hold the shape.

    3. After checking to make sure dent is pushed out, I sew padding (may need less because buckram strips take up room) and lining back into bra cup.

I've heard about fabric "stiffeners" that can be sprayed on the inside of bra cups, but I wonder if it affects fabric or leaks through to decorations on out side of bra cup. Buckram is easy to find at fabric stores, it's just very heavy duty stiff interfacing.

Who are you calling an idiotic lip syncer!!!

So...soak bra in warm water (some say the rhinestones will darken if left wet too long, I live in a desert...so that doesnt happen to me) till really wet thru. Hang bra so the cups are horizontal to the ground - like 2 little hammacks. Place in a round and heavy fruit of your choice (cantalopes for me) and let dry.

PS- If you have pearls...they may flake if they are old or have been sprayed with perfume.

thats as funny as it gets but honestly I think it would work. I prefer to use steam for this procedure so that I do not wet thru the entire piece. Hang as cantaloupe girl says but then steam from the bottom where you want the straightening to be with the fruit of choice in place. not tooo hot steam and not toooo close or you'll melt the sequins
From now on Anala you are duly dubed Anala casaba <giggle>

    Re: Re-shaping bra cups?

I use the steam method- actually the electric kettle works GREAT for this. Lay the bra cup (padding removed) over the spout, turn the kettle on- as it steams for a bit before it starts boiling. Once it shuts off I push/smooth /manipulate the dent back to the right shape as the material cools. Sometimes it takes more than once, but it's simple enough. Most of her cups have a stiffener in them. The steaming softens it up while you shape it- and then it sets in the new position.
    Good luck!
