Raw shea butter?
Does anyone have experience using this for skin (facial) care? I bought some at our local farmer's market today because I want my husband to try it this winter for his extremely dry skin. However, it is supposed to also have anti-aging properties. I'm acne-prone and hesitate to use a nut butter on my face, so I'm looking for stories!

Re: Raw shea butter?
hi!
i use it all the time! just keep it in the fridge or a cool dry place so it wont dry out. it's the best but i wouldn't use it everyday if you're acne prone. however, if you use it once a week after a loofah, just a small amount, it's nice in winter. If you want the cleanest moisturizer line (meaning without tons of chemicals), Kiss My Face is pretty good.
:O)
PS I used shea butter to make my own deodrant

Take a little bit with you in the shower every now and then. The heat from your body and the water will melt it into your skin and it doesn't rinse off with the water.
Be careful with storage and how you handle it though. If there is no antibacterial then bacteria from your hands can contaminate the container. Raw butter can go rancid under the right conditions.

Re: Raw shea butter?
I was contemplating buying this because it actually says it is GOOD against skin problems and scars:
Coastal Scents: Unrefined African Shea Butter
No idea if what is said there is true nor if the reviews are legit..
I don't see any reason trusting them less than amazon reviews and similar ones I must say..
I might get it and see what the effect is.
Btw one of the reviewers says skin that is too oily should use VERY little, I will definitely do that. i don't have oily skin but normal to mixed skin.. and I get spots easily when applying creams or oils that are too richly moisturizing.

Re: Raw shea butter?
I have oily skin and tend to apply shea mixed with a bit of aloe vera gel and a drop or two of rose hip oil. I love it - it makes my skin feel very soft and smooth, and it gives me a little glow.
I also use shea butter in my hair; it can give a bit of "lift" when you apply it to the roots of your hair, and can add some softness and moisture to the ends.

Re: Raw shea butter?
I used unrefined shea butter on my body just about every day. In a pinch I use it on my face but really prefer my olay and l'oreal anti-aging products on my face.
I have a large can that I've had my mitts in every day for over a year and it hasn't gone rancid at all.
