    Well, haven't you heard about this season's hot new fashion trend? It's Swine Flu Chic! You know....regular surgical masks are so boring. But this season's catwalks have featured surgical masks in metallics, prints and bling - even an Ed Hardy tattooed version! Obviously, Legend is just jumping on the bandwagon ..g.:

    Cold masks were a regular sight in Japan before swine-flu. It's nice, because now people who are sick can wear them without stigma (although teaching classes where every student is wearing one is creepy)

    You jest, but I HAVE see blinged -out cold masks and ones sporting designs.

    The way H1N1 is going around Dallas I'm tempted to go to work in that outfit.

    Well, at least people in Japan have the option of protecting themselves against airborne diseases without ridicule. My experience is that Americans tend to get creeped out when they see somebody wearing a surgical mask.

    Who knows, though. If H1N1 really does turn into the pandemic they're expecting it to be, I'm guessing Martha Stewart will appear on every morning talk show with advice on prettying up your surgical masks. We'll see .w.:

    So here's the deal. That woman is a belly dancer in Turkey and I imagine that she doesn't want to be recognized modeling for Legend. So it's not a fashion statement, it is a terrible disguise. Comme ca:

    We have the same thing - public service announcements on proper coughing and sneezing protocol. So far, none of it seems to have worked. I witnessed a good deal of over-the-top, uncovered hacking at the Orlando International Airport last week.

    Guess it's one of those things where the "rules" apply to everyone else ,r:;

    When the flu was first happening in Mexico and holiday makers were coming back to the Uk from there that is just what my son, an I.O. reported . You can imagine a few of his colleagues were very reluctant to go to those desks as people deliberately spluttered all over them.,f::
    I am not quite sure why they didn't grab a couple and put them in isolation to await a doctor. For all of you who complain about the humourless greeting you may get at UK airports, you want to know what these guys put up with

    That disguise is terrible. It might have been better to show the costume from the neck down.

    I wonder why she wouldn't want to be recognized though? Legend is a reputable quality company - at least I haven't heard any complaints about them - and it's not like other dancers don't model for designers, Didem is all over Bella's front page...

    oh man..maybe I will go to work tomorrow just so I can wear a blinged out surgical mask. I currently have swine flu...wearing a sparkly mask when I went to the store earlier to get kitty litter would have made my day. lol

    THis is how I will make my million, blinged out masks. Instead of yoga pants that say "booty" across the booty, masks that say "hacker", "oink" or the like?

    This has nothing to do with blinged out masks (though that would be so awesome) but I just wanted to say that I decided that if I ever take up roller derby, my name would be "Swine Flo."

    Ohhhh, and part of my costume could be a blingy mask! Quick, someone start cranking these suckers out and start an etsy shop.....

    small reality check re: masks from the GF of a microbiologist...the masks you can get in the pharmacy, online, etc don't protect you from getting an airborne pathogen--the filters simply aren't small enough. To those who are sick, they only slightly prevent you from spreading what you have

    however...I do believe rhinestones have special protective powers ;)
