The great boot hunt
I know they exist, I have seen other girls wearing them so why can't I find them? I have big calfs and I love boots. I can't find any that don't give me a calf muffin top. I know they make them for ladies with larger calfs cause I have seen plus size gals wearing them but I can't find them any where! Where do I find them? Any one know?

Re: The great boot hunt
Zappos posts fairly detailed measurements, which can be useful.

Just took a look and same problem. If it helps anyone, I just measured my calf and it is around 18". There were some cute ones there too. Damn.

Re: The great boot hunt
I have a great pair of Doc Martens boots .... I usually wear 8-1/2 medium in regular shoes, but they are a bit tight in the toebox ..... I think the calf area is generous ..... not at all sure if you have any interest in these -- if you do, let me know & I'll be happy to measure them!

Re: The great boot hunt
I saw these Aerosoles at DSW last weekend, and they might work for you. I have 14" calves and these were too roomy for me, plus they have an extra zipper to open the leg up another 2" and buckles that can be loosened on the side to make for even more room. I thought they were adorable, too, and was sorry they didn't fit me.
I hope you find something that works!

I am in the same situation you are!
I search and search for stretch boots, not just elastic inserts, but stretch material---found some at Target last year. Obviously not leather, sometimes
a suede-like stretch material.
I've also found them in the Metrostyle mail order catalog, Victoria's Secret catalog, Chadwick's catalog, and at DSW Shoes.

Re: The great boot hunt
if you do a google search of wide calf boots you should get a bunch of results. The joke in my family is that I don't have calves....I have steer! LOL! Seriously, the women in my family have very um....sturdy legs.

Re: The great boot hunt
Well when ever I have an issue w/ a boot or shoe, IE I bought a pair of HOT cowboy boots but the heal is REAAALLLY Cuban, I take them to my local cobbler (they really do still exist) and I told the cobbler replace the heal w/ a cuban heal but HOLD THE CIGAR!. Other wise I take my shoes to the cobbler to add or subtract stuff replace heels, I have even designed an addon for a boot and took it to the cobbler to have them sew it on thier special machines. Support your local cobbler They really do know what they are doing.

Check out Torrid. They have cute boots. If you don't have one at a mall near you, you can order online.

i have the same issue. i either have a huge gap at the top of the boot or it's too tight. i go to dsw shoe warehouse. easiest way is to try everything on. last i checked they had the stretch ones.

Re: The great boot hunt
JCrew makes boots in "extended" calf sizes. I also have this problem. I have never bought boots from JCrew. If I get a knee-high or mid-calf boot I usually end up buying something in a stretch faux-leather & I go for the higher quality stretch leathers so it doesn't look like I'm wearing cheap shoes (a pet peeve of mine). I've had good luck with Impos, John Fluevog, Durango, Miz Mooz, and Frye. Keen and Aerosoles also seem to have roomier boots.

Re: The great boot hunt
So now I am confused. Is the circumfrance suppose to be calf size? Cause on some of these, they don't match up and other just give the cir.

Same problem here. Only boots from Nero Bianco fit me, but I don't know where they'd sell in the US.

Re: The great boot hunt
I went shopping this weekend at DSW and all around me were the happy sounds of boot zipping up, not on me tho. Just the embarassment of putting on another pair and having to take them off........

Re: The great boot hunt
I buy a lot of boots on eBay and online. When I search, I look for "microfiber," "stretch" and "wide." That usually helps narrow it down to something I can actually wear. I practically live in microfiber boots in the winter - plus, they look really sexy - expecially if they have really high heels!
