bird costume!
just came across this pic

which is supposes to represent the blue-throated macaw Ara glaucogularis

The blue-throated macaw is a critically-endangered Bolivian bird. according to the site i found the pic (link) , the costume was created by Jessica Jordan for the Miss Bolivia beauty pageant in 2006.
i love it!! :)

Re: bird costume!
i'd guess the feathers were collected from the floor of a cage or aviary.

Re: bird costume!
It is indeed a beautiful costume!
I would guess from their size that the feathers are dyed turkey feathers, or possibly goose. Pretty unlikely they were lovingly collected from the ground after the birds dropped them. (I wear leather even though I don't eat cows, so no judgement here, just observation)

Re: bird costume!
The costume is a magnificent work of art.
But I feel like it's not doing a good job of showcasing the woman wearing it. it seems like that would be the goal of a pageant costume, doesn't it?
Somehow this reminds me of those TV ad campaigns that win awards for being ingenious and creative, but no one can remember what the product was.

Re: bird costume!
donno for sure, but maybe, considering what the girls behind are wearing, maybe each woman had to pick a 'symbol' of the country, or something like that, to represent. i rather like the idea anyhoo ^^
