Help!...I need costume advice
Hi Ladies,
I just ordered a bright gold 2 piece costume. I wondering what color veil should I use. I'm ordering it from india bazaar. They do costum color silk and chiffon veils. I'm thinking tye dyed different shades of gold or tri-color graduating dark gold, gold, and pale gold, or tri-color dark gold, gold, and black.
Thanks,
Nadia

The great thing about a gold costume is that it goes with everything. Pick your favorite color, or maybe buy something that will work with another costume you already have. Personally, I would use something that contrasts with the gold like Turquoise, Pink, Red, etc.

Just curious....was India Bazaar the site that stole Jes/A'Kai Silks' promotional photos? Or am I thinking of some other vendor?

Re: Help!...I need costume advice
maybe you could get a solid colored veil and sew on 30-40 light sequins for more sparkle. don't do this if your veil is going to be made out of a light material such as chiffon, becuase it will just collapse unattractively when you dance with it. silk is a far better option in my opinion. if you want your veil to subtly catch light, you can buy a spray can with glitter spray and spray 2-3 coats on the veil. before you buy, make sure that it doesn't bleach your veil !!
hope this helped

Re: Help!...I need costume advice
i second the idea of buying a veil in a contrasting color. It makes it much more fun than the one tone vibe of a matching costume and veil. when you dance, you want your veil to be eye catching and almost a separate entity from yourself. That's the way i think about it.
otherwise, if you do want to go one tone with your costume, i think the color gradation is lovely idea with the dark gold, gold and light gold. Leave black out of this veil. you can always make your skirt black.

Re: Help!...I need costume advice
I love light coloured veils for the ethereal thing. But with a gold costume, I'd maybe chose a strong colour, depending on the character of the music and the character of the dancer, but generally, gold to me means: richness, full life, wealth, a lot of everything, so, yes maybe I'd go for a juicy, lively contrast. Pink (fuchsia), turquoise, red, blue, violet, green, any of those (my faves being: pink, turqoise or red) I would like to see with gold.
