    Silk Quality of New Veil?

I just bought a new veil. It flies like a dream and feels to be about 6mm. I've only been using it a week and there are little "fingerprints" where the fibers of the veil have ever so slightly separated at the edge. Looking at the veil, it looks like there are little salt stains on the veil. It's only when I hold it up to the light that I see tiny separations. Is this normal? Maybe, I should only use this veil for performances...

    P.S. Can I iron it?

I steam my veils, I have had veils with the separations before. I think the lighter the veil the more delicate it is.

The very light 5mm and 6mm veils are definitely prone to these shifts in weave.

Yes, you can definitely iron your featherweight veil. I get best results by spritzing the silk lightly with water and ironing very quickly at the lowest steam-producing setting.

Thanks guy! I was concerned I bought a sub-standard veil. That makes me feel better. I'll take the spritz & steam option up for the ironing.
