five pounds...
does a shimmy good!!!
I was lamenting a slight weight gain and a monumental birthday when I realized that my shimmy looks GOOD! Maybe I will keep those 5 pounds...

Re: five pounds...
Now you're talking! A little more weight does wonders for this dance.....everytime I try to gain weight it goes to my arms and thighs and I remain with the hips of a 13 year old boy :( Enjoy!

Re: five pounds...
Yes, a little something to move is good. As someone who has recently lost a lot of weight (who had no desire to do so) I miss my little jiggle in my shimmy.

That's one advantage to a few pounds. The more the merrier in bellydance! Another reason to be one!!

Re: five pounds...
I had a friend who liked herself slightly bigger in dance as she felt her body moved more fluidly with a little extra hip weight. :)
You know - since I've been dancing I lost 42 lbs. What I do notice, is I have to re-adjust my shimmy (work harder) as I shrink!

Re: five pounds...
I'm hoping for similar results! I'm actually trying to gain about 5-10 lbs.

Re: five pounds...
I've put on about 10 pounds since I started dancing 6 years ago, mostly in my hips and thighs. It does make my shimmies appear juicier, I admit. I just wish I could keep them for BD and take them off when not dancing, like false eyelashes!

Re: five pounds...
Salsabelly, I'll take 10 lbs! ..l;,
Seriously. On the rare occasion that I gain weight, it all just goes to my stomach, rather than my hips and booty. So, in essence, I still resemble a stick - only a slightly bigger one.
I love that all women (and men) have something special to bring to the dance. That's what makes it interesting!

Re: five pounds...
Sandra, you look amazing - with or without the 5 pounds!!!!!
Ultimately I love watching a dancer who looks like she LOVES her body, no matter what the size. It's her confidence that translates into sexy/attractive/beautiful to me.

Re: five pounds...
Unfortunately not everyone gains weight on their hips and booty.
Visceral abdominal fat doesn't do anything good for dancing..cr.:
