Help!!...Costume advice!!
Okay...The first time I wore a 2 piece egyptian style costume. I usually wear bra and belt set with a layered chiffon skirt. I performed at Rak East, and my skirt kept sliding down on me. I got a lot of suggestions from fellow belly dancers, but at the time I was so nervous from performing on a stage, (for the first time)and in front of a large audience, the suggestions went right over my head.

A lot of the all in one Egyptian skirts need elastic added in the top, the stretch fabric isn't sturdy enough to stay on when you start moving. I do it with all of mine.

If the fabric of the skirt isn't see through, I wear little shorts (flesh colour of course) underneath and then use safety pins to attach the skirt to the shorts...
It keeps the skirt from twisting too ;-)

Re: Help!!...Costume advice!!
Adding elastic to the top of a lycra skirt is common, I only had one skirt that didn't need it because it was a tight fit.
You're basically creating a lot of loops with sturdy thread that keeps the elasic in place. To make sure that the loops have a bit of stretch to them, they are stitched with a flanel stitch'. I'm not sure if this is the correct English term.
