Thread: Help! I have a party Friday and a bit pimple on my BELLY

.w.: What to do??? Someone quick, either tell me how to get rid of this giant alien on my tummy or tell me what coverup I can get at the drugstore to hide it!!! I have a mid-day gig at a bank and I do not want to show up sporting a giant zit right next to my bellybutton. ,m::.w.:..cr.:

Makeup or rhinestones would be my first suggestions. Could you do a pretty design that involves three stones - top and sides? I'm thinking of something symmetrical.

I don't know if it's the damn weather down here, but I've been breaking out like crazy, too.

Ain't that always the way? Back in the day when I had a lot of pimples to deal with, I used to run water as hot as I could stand it. Dip a wash cloth into it and hold it on the zit. When it starts to cool down, dip and hold again. The hot water helps draw the yuck out. Do a couple of rounds of this and let it rest. Go back and repeat if you need to.

I used to also do the following, but now that I know better I can't actually recommend it. Doing this increases the spread of bacteria, so at your own risk: after you've gotten the skin nice and pliable with the hot water, put some folded TP just under it. Take a sterilized needle and poke a small hole at the base of the zit. Press down lightly on the top so it comes out the hole you just made. Never squeeze from both sides! If you can get the blemish relatively flat you can camoflage it with makeup.

Put a warm compress on it, several times a day. Preferably you can mix some tea tree oil into the warm water. This will have a drawing effect and help coax all the yucky stuff out of the pimple.

Meanwhile, run to your health food store and get some sort of blemish spot treatment stick containing tea tree oil. Burt's Bees and Desert Essence both make an excellent one. You can carry the stick with you and dab it on several times a day. Hopefully that should help zap the pimple into submission!

If all else fails, why not put some eyeliner on it so it looks like a beauty mark?

This is a really good idea!

Hand sanitizer! Yes, that's my new find! Regular, no scent or anything added---alcohol based hand sanitizer.
Used it once on a farce and it worked miracles.
Just dab it on at nite, or for quicker results, whenever you get a chance, and let it dry up.

Essential oils and extreme temperatures are more than likely going to irritate the pimple.

Irritation = inflammation = blood to the area to fight irritation = pimple gets more red.

Andrea2's suggestion is more sanitary and less likely to cause infection or irritation.

I definitely agree with the tea tree oil method. It really helps.

It's just above a natural beauty mark, so that would look odd. So far I have tried putting crushed aspirin on it to help take the redness & swelling down. It looks like coverup will have to work. It's too far from the button to use stones or chains. Great suggestions for future problems though, for sure!!!!!

I used to use toothpaste. Put it on at night and usually a lot less noticeable in the morning. Paste, not gel.

This happened to me once. I am extremely pale, to the point where my facial foundation looks like a yellow blob on my belly. So makeup may not work.

The zit in question was conveniently directly below my navel. I put a pretty bindi on it that toned with my costume! It looked good. I recommend something similar - use bindis, stick on jewels or whatever to create a design that hides the spot.

Aloe vera juice is a useful topical anti-inflammatory. It's traditional to use it on burns (either of the sun or kitchen accident varieties) but it will also help calm down a zit. Also aloe gel, the kind you buy in a bottle or tube, applied and allowed to thoroughly dry, is a good base over which to apply make-up.

I recently had quite a few spots of sun damage burned off my arms by the dermotologist. They take a long time to heal and for recent performances I have used Ben Nye red concealer. It covers it completely. Ben Nye makes a concealer wheel with the red concealer, an apricot (for undereye circles) and two neutrals. Great coverage for just about any boo boo.

1. a cream/gel with 2.5-5% benzoyl peroxide (don't use oxy wipes or any thing, just put a little of the cream on).
2. i've heard its possible to get cortisone injections to reduce the swelling from real monsters. i've never explored this myself, but you could talk to a cosmetologist.
3. i wash my face with either neutrogena or biore acne products - i get good results and doesn't annihilate my skin (oxy=bad)
4. don't use abrasive cleansers - these are good for preventing acne, but really aggravate existing pimples
5. for cover up, either go for the beauty mark route, or use dermablend (used for covering tattoos), and use a bit of green tinted concealer (green neutralizes red tones)

How about a temporary tatto that goes around the whole belly button? I've seen them on eBay. Or you could just glue on rhinestones or sequins in a nice, symmetrical design around the belly button to cover/incorporate the spot.

anyways, make a paste out of aspirin and water and apply a thick layer on the zit. wait until it has all stopped fizzing and cover it up with a concealer. add translucent powder on top so the concealer stays on!

I think how to treat it depends if it's a blob under the skin or has a head on it.

The irony? I forgot to do anything because I was caught up in another situation right before the gig. Oh well, it went great anyway!
