Thread: Latest photoshoot

Last Saturday I had a photoshoot with the collective of Harajuku Photographers I sometimes work with. We'd had to reschedule 2-3 times and the photographers I've worked with in the past couldn't make it and last minute we lost the make-up artist...

But it was worth it.

As some of you know, for the last 2 years I have been bloging my photoshoots as I come to grips with being in front of a camera...it hasn't come naturally or easily. I don't like realizing I am being photographed. Don't think I've always been the sort of person the camera loves.

Oh my gosh! Gorgeous! They're all beautiful, but I especially love the colour and composition in #2.

I love the 2nd pic. Its breath taking

The peacock costume was put on, shot with three photographers taking turns, and everything was packed up under 30 minutes...I am astounded at the fact we got such good shots of it.

#2 also. the colors are amazing with your skin tone. wow

I love the ghost veil too. But they're all great.

great pictures, i love the dynamic of picture #30 and #65 in your photo album.

i LOVE the oldskool pics with the stripy/zigzag veil! you are so photogenic!

Yup! And that boy had to reload after 12 shots. It's amazing that he got even the four he did and I am told there are more.

I've learned (sometimes the hard way) what poses and approaches totally DON'T work for me.

That's Eric's. He's relatively new to photography. The Harajuku collective of photographers has taught him a lot...and he and other photographers expressed a preference for photographing dancers/performers because they find the model-model shoots to be less exiting and less food for thought.

Good things can come from being assaulted with the windmachine!

Although I look quite stoic in those shots some of that comes from having to hold a pose while the wind was making me cry and (at one point) pulling a row of false eyelashes off.

it doesn't even look like there's a wind machine, since your hair isn't all over the place. it looks like you have wings... or that veil is attacking you from behind. ..l;,

Go right ahead. I keep most of my photoshoot writeups and such public because a few dancers have thanked me for how my experiences helped them prepare.

Most of the time when a windmachine is at a shoot the photographers will use a fast shutter speed to capture the movement frozen in time...and the model doesn't have to stand stock still.

For these shots the photographers used a smaller apeture (sp?) and kept the shutter open for longer so that the could record the motion. The veil points that moved the most are the most blurry. I had to hold my body and face as still as possible. My position in that shot kept my hair from going too crazy (slightly windblocked by the veil) but because moving strands of hair take up less space than a huge veil, what did whip around moved to fast and took up too little room to visually register. It's also why there are no clear shots of my tears.

Big high fives and bragging rights went to the photographer who thought it up at the shoot, they all tried it.
