Color combo help, please
I bought a fringe monster on ebay that has a navy sequin base with navy iris fringe. It has an acid yellow/green/phosphorescent "vaseline glass" kind of accent beading. What would you pair with this?

Re: Color combo help, please
I LOVED this -I'm seeking that beading - the elusive blue iris...
Since the blue iris has so many possibilities in shades, here's a couple.
Navy chiffon skirt underlaid with a pale yellow or soft lime skirt for a full skirt option. That's what I would have done, when you spin/step you get these peeks of the yellow underneath.
Navy harems and a gold/pale yellow sari fabric panel might be cute for sword work - or reverse that.
You could also try various shades of lighter greens/irredescent blues in patterned skirts, but I'd stay away from huge prints as it might be too busy with the beadwork in the bedlah.

Wow, good score! Would look great with yellow or maybe a light lime green. Maybe gold? What about navy blue, royal blue?

Re: Color combo help, please
I was thinking yellow on top of navy. Navy on top might blur the fringe. I am dubious about bringing any red into the mix. Navy and bright yellow green...it soooo odd!

I really wanted that one. It's so pretty. I would put navy & yellow/gold chiffon skirts layered. Or try to find a navy skirt with a pattern on it.

Re: Color combo help, please
me too I'd stick to navy and lime and wouldn't bring in a third colour.
Maybe a wide satin skirt in lime green for the "happy version" of this costume. Then maybe also a navy skirt, chiffon, with a lime skirt below, for the more mystical version (for myself I'd go for the navy skirt, but if you're the happy, colourful type, the lime skirt would be fabulous too).
It's a real beauty btw.

Wow! I love that costume! How did I miss it.
I like the idea of gold or navy with yellow sequin trim. ;) I think that the fringe is so shiny that it won't get lost in the skirt.

I like the idea of the navy overskirt with the lime/yellow underskirt. If you want the fringe to "pop," you could layer a triangular lime/yellow scarf under the belt and over the skirt.

Re: Color combo help, please
In regards to your question, now that I have sated my curiosity, I think a print skirt with that set would be too busy. If you were going to go for a mix of colors I would suggest mixing solid colors as 2 circle skirts or a skirt and pants.

Re: Color combo help, please
The 70's were a very busy time..... I wore this blue set with a Peter Max pants suit for a Halloween gig. It worked! I was trying for the same look...just a bit more elegant..so 5 yards of that stuff is now mine! The blue will be the bottom border of a circle and a half skirt. Navy chiffon underskirt, and poofy sleeves and turban headband.

Re: Color combo help, please
all excellent ideas.....especially loving the navy on top of yellow idea. have you thought about doing maybe a mermaid skirt of rich gold velvet? I think it would look lovely.
congrats on an absolutely stunning purchase!!!

Re: Color combo help, please
I did, but I have "elegant" costumes. The "op art design" of the florescent yellow arches and the fact that it is an AmCab (forgive me, Shira) fringe monster leads me down the silly 70's pathway. Except with a more opulent fabric for a grown up take on things.
