Can anyone tell me where to find some show stopping shimmery iridescent veils (ideally silk chiffon)? Sarah Skinner shows some stunning ones with lame thread in her DVD too, which I loved, but I've never seen anything like them for sale...

Ive seen some cool fabric like this at Joannes fabric store

i'm wondering if laying a veil flat on the floor, and lightly showering it from quite high up with spray-on glitter, would work... hmmm, now i'm tempted to try :D might need to test on a scrap piece of silk first though, to see if the spray would affect the flow of the fabric.

haven't seen the veils you're talking about? any pics or vids other than that dvd?

My veil in this photo (sorry about the drunken slanting effect) is iridescent silk chiffon purchased on line from Thai Silks. Their prices for yardage are very reasonable. The color pics they show in their on-line catalog are pallid, lame shadows of the actual colors you get. This veil in the picture is the "sun/gold" which looks like a pale orange in their color chart and like a blazing flame in reality. I do think they will provide sets of color swatches. Their fancy silk chiffons come in 54" widths, not 45. 45" iridescent silks seem to be be unusual out there.

Agreed, this is lovely. Just had a look and you are right, their online swatches aren't great, such a shame!

I went through this about a year ago, finally just had to buy fabric and make my own.

Did you keep the 54" or cut it down?

I have a couple of painted metallic ones and have most iridescent solid colors in silk chiffon. PM me if interested.

I just bought a 4 yard, 54" wide piece and dance with it. Didn't hem it or anything. I pull the occasional stray threads off the cut ends. It's huge but that just makes it all the more spectacular and it's not too heavy, moves beautifully.
