What style do you have (hooks under your bra, has straps, also covers arms and/or legs, etc.), what color(s) do you have, where'd you get it and do you like it (why or why not)? Is yours embellished & Did you do it yourself?
I have none ..g.: however I'm very seriously looking at Sugar Petals # 1.5 in Power Net in nude for when I feel bloated & want a smoother line and/or to embellish with a design in sequins.

Re: Let's talk about stomach covers/body stockings
I like Danskins fishnet hose. I have 2 pair. One has bra straps sewn on for halter style and one for over the shoulder bras. The are long enough for me to pull them up to wear under the bra. I leave the sliders intact on the bra straps so I can adjust and sew them on so the sliders are at the front. The act as a bit of color and collagen, but they dont compress the flesh. They are not shiny and look very natural. They are almost invisible. I wear canvas ballet slippers so I dont have to worry about how they look on bare feet. I have cut out open the toe seam and worn ankle bands. That makes them even longer. That also gives a better look to bare legs.

Re: Let's talk about stomach covers/body stockings
I have a Sugarpetals one, and unless you are Really pale, you might want to go for the tan color. It's a really light tan. I'm like a big snowball and it doesn't look weird when I wear it because your arms are usually going to be a bit darker and it balances out. The fabric is very strong, and a bit uncomfortable, truth be told, but this is only on my knees when I do floorwork, as it's a mesh (cheesecutter effect, as I have the one with legs too). It can withstand hooks though, no problem, and shouldn't be an issue if you're just doing the basic stomach cover one. I like Analas' idea about the cutting it off at the ankle and using ankle bands. Haven't tried a Danskin yet. Designsbyjanie.com has them too, plus theirs have a snap crotch option which is handy once you're all blinged-up. They also make them in different colors.

Re: Let's talk about stomach covers/body stockings
I got mine from Shifting Sands which has an ebay shop (will find link later) and they are really good. They will make them to your requirements. I have underbust ones with clear straps and stud closing so I don't have to take my costume apart for a nervous pre performance pee.
I have a crystal black one and a mesh one, they are very good. I have also ordered a flesh one to bejewel!

Re: Let's talk about stomach covers/body stockings
I have several, including a Sugar Petals and a SeeFit and.. some other one, don't know what it is.
The only one I LIKE, and wear over and over and over, is my homemade Danskin tights one, like Anala described.
I hate the fuss of trying to hook something to my bra and then worrying about it while I dance, so mine also have shoulder straps. I made them out of the legs I cut off the tights, and have them cross in back so they never slip. I just always wear a U-top or tie top or vest to cover the straps. SO secure.
The Danskin professional weight tights are strong enough to stretch over the belly even on long torso dancers (I'm 5'9 and doubted it would work for me, but no problem!), powerfully hold you in, but still look VERY sexy because it's an open fishnet weave.
Sometimes I spray mine with glitter hairspray right before I go on. Looks AMAZING, but doesn't last long.

Re: Let's talk about stomach covers/body stockings
I did quite a bit of extensive bodystocking research a couple months ago when I thought I'd have to buy one for a corporate gig ,r:;
Designs by Janie has some beautiful ones! I love all the iridescent and metallic bodystockings she offers. If you pair one of those with a high-end bedlah in the same color, and maybe bling it up a little bit, that would look so incredibly classy and gorgeous!
ETA: I think a lot of these bodystockings are made to order, if I remember correctly. So if you need it for a specific event, make sure you allow more than enough time!

Re: Let's talk about stomach covers/body stockings
I had a few styles, but I ended up cutting off the sleeves on the ones with straps & just going with hooking them into the bra. I do have one that is the same fabric as the bra & belt which has straps- I like it a lot, makes it look like a dress instead of bra & belt set, so extra versatility.
I do like the sugar petals ones the best, i feel like the material is just sturdier than anything else I have found.
on a side note, my husband thinks they are a) totally dumb & b) effectively more revealing than a bare belly because of where they draw attention. Whatever.

Re: Let's talk about stomach covers/body stockings
I have the Sugarpetals 1.5 in powernet.
What I like: I sew little hooks into my bra, as they describe, and then just snag the powernet on the hooks. It is very convenient.
What I don't like: I'm fat, and often experience "chub rub" between my thighs which is made unbearable by the cheesecutter effect described above.
Would I buy it again? Yes. But I wouldn't go for the shorts-style cut, because I just end up rolling the leggings up anyway.

Which Danskin professional weight tights did you use? When you cut the leg part off does it roll up?

Re: Let's talk about stomach covers/body stockings
I have a sugarpetal's bodystocking. I want to add tiny crystals for extra bling, up till now I've worn it as is. It hooks onto my bra in several places and gives me a bit more waistline. I'm very happy with the quality, easy to wash and they're holding up great!

Re: Let's talk about stomach covers/body stockings
Ok, so I'm not too swift when it comes to sewing, but I can hand sew stuff like straps onto a body stocking. But how did you find bra straps long enough to go from under the bust and over the shoulders and back down to the ribs? Or do you make a halter strap? I bought clear straps for one of my body stockings but they weren't long enough, so I'm stumped. But I'm easily stumped by sewing questions, ..l;,

Re: Let's talk about stomach covers/body stockings
I buy those Wallmart "stand in a corner by themselves" strapless in nude for costume bases...those are the straps I use - since I dont need them for the costume bra. (I use them for zill elastics too). When I cut the toes open (I dont cut off the foot) I wear decorative anklets over them and they dont creep up at all.

Re: Let's talk about stomach covers/body stockings
I've been considering buying one of American Apparel's bodysuits as an alternative. The fabric is 5% more spandex however so I'm not so sure how it will compare. Would that have more or less give than sugar petals?

Re: Let's talk about stomach covers/body stockings
Question about Danskin (or other labbel of thight):
What about the seams in the middle, I wouldn't mind having one in the back, but in the front (in the middle of the tummy)??? Do you live it as is, or hide it, sequins, long fringe falling over it...? I'm curious.
Thx

It would depend on whether or not there is a seam in the gridle part of the hose. No seam, you are golden! With a seam, time to cut, twist and stitch to a pair of boy shorts! Or what ever style of underwear you like to wear!

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around how to make the ones from Danskin tights. ..c:: I need a "homemade body stockings for dummies" tutorial. Is this illustrated anywhere on the 'net?

Re: Let's talk about stomach covers/body stockings
Simplest instructions:
Put on a pair of superstrong Danskin fishnets.
Hike the waistband up under your boobs like Grandpa's pants.
Choices:
You may cut off the legs (like boy shorts, just cut straight across. Mine don't roll much)
You need a way to KEEP them hiked up. Either by sewing hooks all around the inside of your bra (see Sugar Petals Dance Accessories Home Page I think they have a good diagram) OR by sewing straps onto the top of the stocking.

Thanks, Lauren! But these thing's don't make your bra pull downward? I guess I will just have to get one and try it to know.
Actually I don't want it for myself so I'll be passing this on to troupe members, so THEY'll just have to try it. Thanks, guys!

Re: Let's talk about stomach covers/body stockings
Good to know about SugarPetals' "nude" shades (I am really pale, so their 'light' would work for me) and about the 1.5 style. I have chunky thighs so now rethinking the shorts on them.
Lovin' the Designs by Janie ones! Danskin bodystocking is an interesting option, too, as I don't feel my legs are good enough to show much of, tho I like to wear double slit skirts.

Re: Let's talk about stomach covers/body stockings
I was telling one of my troupe about this the other night when we worked out. She asked if you couldn't tell that they were fishnets, or were they so finely woven they just looked like good skin? We don't have a source for them locally so it's not like we can check them out before buying.

Re: Let's talk about stomach covers/body stockings
Actually the weaving is so coarse they disappear! If the weaving is very fine you get that sausage casing effect. These really do disappear. However...they will not "hold you in" It is a subtle enhancement of skin tone and firmness. I wear panties under them as the ahhhh...pressure...can be it bit much if you wear panties over them. I am almost 6 ft, so they are stretched lengthwise to capacity. I don't like fiddling about with tiny hooks on my bra, so I use the shoulder strap method.
