    Update! My Tribal costume book...homestretch

A few weeks ago, I mentioned my new Tribal costume book gestating. I am updating y'all.

I have had my butt planted in front of the computer 12 hours a day for a about 6 weeks now, working on the text, illustrations, photos, & layout for my new book. It will be my biggest book, at least 85 pages, even though I switched to a narrower text font to fit more text in the same space. It has 300 photos, graphics, and illustrations.

I feared for that butt retaining the shape of the chair, so I practiced dancing to Hakim for 40 minutes today. Everything still working...barely.

This is the tentative cover design. Yes, it'll be yellow; each of my 7 books is a covered in a different dessert-minty color. These 3 members of Anwaar are archetypal of the modern Tribal dancer, I think.

I think one more week should do it. Then I get my sister the editor to proofread it. Then I wait for the printer to make the first 100 copies. Then I ship.

Any feedback? There is still time for me to edit, even add something I hadn't thought of.

Shira, you will get a complimentary review copy. I have always found your reviews to be very fair.

I used your feedback to change the format in the last 2 books. Instead of a long photo gallery showcased upfront, I have placed the photos wherever they seem to make the most sense in context of the topic. The captions includes page numbers of related how-tos and other photos of that person, or troupe. So, cross-referenced as you read.

Not as much white space, but more concise and useful.

This book is such a departure from the original edition, I gave it a different title.

The technical term for this is "chair-butt."

This looks like a big undertaking though! I hope the editing goes smoothly.

Ah yes, I do see the new title. From your earlier thread, it sounded like you had a lot of changes planned, so yes, if the changes are indeed that extensive a different title makes sense!
