    Question Costless Coins

    Hi All,

I am on the search for coins for costuming. I'm not sure about real coins due to the weight and extra $$. I went to the Costless site (main site, sister site for online ordering), and was looking through their selections of coins. I am wondering what are bhuzzer's experience with using Costless Coins? The coins I'm interested run about $20 + shipping per 100 count, while I found some on ebay for $6, though I'm guessing the latter are the cheapy kind. Just wanted to know if the extra cost for coins are worth it. Are they heavier? Thicker?

    Thanks!

    -E

    Re: Costless Coins

I have had good experience with them. Fast shipping, good telephone support.

I have never seen fake coins that were worth anything. Costless is good quality, real coins. I think they have fake ones too, but I'm not sure. Go with the real thing.

Remember your jump rings and any other parts you might want.

Costless stuff is great. I still have a Costless silver coin bra and belt with many accessories that's looking for a home...

Call the owner. He has more coins at the shop than online. I have the shinny silver Iranian coins that I'm making a bra out of. He's very nice and can help you with any questions you may have.

    Thanks for the replies!
I will call him to get the updated info =)!

However, I was more curious about the imitation coins. I was just wondering if it's just the usual thin coins just like those on a typical hip scarf? I was just thinking imitation coins since it's cheaper and not as heavy.

Side note: I actually don't think I have ever seen a real coin costume in person (except for tribal stuff)....

    Thanks!

    Re: Costless Coins

Patrick from Costless sent me some sample fake coins with an order once. I don't think I still have them, but I think they were pretty good for fake, I doubt if they would easily bend or anything. Call and ask for a sample.

Fake verses real coins? apples and oranges.

Tin coins are light, they have a high pitched sound, always shinny and bright.

real coins are heavier-(i like the feeling= personal preference) a more natural color, deep rich sound.

both will take maintenance. they have diff looks, sound different and feel different on. its totally up to you.

    Re: Costless Coins

I was about to say I like Saroyan coins as a compromise; they do not look or sound "tinny" and have a medium weight.

Then I looked on their Coin Page
and it seems almost all those items have been discontinued since the last time I ordered (years ago). Only thing left is the copper-colored arabesque design. What a bummer. So why are they teasing us with the beautiful pictures?

There was probably a thread on this a long while back, and I missed it cause I was out of the Bhuz loop for so long.
