    Preventing Fallout

Or at least I think that is what you call it when your eye shadow falls onto the rest of your face during application. Normally this is not really a problem for me, I just use a big brush and brush it off. The new shadow I have is so freaking pigmented tho, that it just smears around and makes it even worse! I end up having to use baby wipes to get it all off and then having to redo my base make up. What are your tricks for this?

I learned to first apply LOTS of powder to where the crumbs of eye shadow / mascara usually falls and after doing the eye make up to wipe the powder off with a big brush including the crumbs of eye make-up on it. That way the crumbs don't fall directly on your base make up and don't smear into it.
But have to say, I usually work with tones of white, silver and dark grey so smears maybe aren't that visible.

Make sure you don't have too much eye shadow on your applicator. (I am sure that Azhia can tell you the appropriate applicator to use.) use powder over your base make up before you start to apply the eyeshadow. Make sue you have used base make up and powder on your eyelids as well.

Those are the things off the top of my head. Others may or may not agree. Experiment.

I may have too much on there, good point. I do usually have powder on as well, that is why I thought it was weird that I am having this smearing problem all of a sudden..

Another interesting note, I tend to get more on my right eye then the left. Could it be that I am using too much pressure and getting some kind of weird flick and the corners that makes it happen? Then again, the fallout isn't just at the corners so I guess no.

Some one suggested sticking post-it notes on my face under my eyes to catch it. Anyone else tried this?

I put my colors on wet (either water or visine). Makes the colors stand out more!

I also put my colors on wet, and I do my eyes first. That way if I have dust or accidents, I can just use a make up remover wipe to clean my cheeks nose or what-have you - then I apply my foundation blush etc after.

Ha ha, post-it-notes under the eyes! As if we don't look weird enough with all the facial contorting required to put make-up on.

I use a brush to put loose powder eye shadow on and I've noticed this is really easy to accidentally flick all over my cheek. So I put the powder on the brush, then dab it against my hand before applying to eye lid to get rid of excess powder. I also press it against my eyelid to start application, before stroking the brush along, and that again helps to adhere the powder better.

For cleaning up stray powder, perhaps try a cotton bud dipped in eye make-up remover. That way you can just dab the spot, and not lose a whole swipe of foundation off your cheek.

On Azhia video she also says to hold tissue under your eye when you put shadoy on the eye, but hey... I like Jewel's idea, post-it hold by themselves...

I have done this with shadow that is in little pots. The stuff I am currently using is in a pressed form tho. I wonder if I just got the brush wet first if that would work...

    Re: Preventing Fallout

Post-Its actually work great! I use scotch tape for the same effect, although I like to apply mine more toward the edge of my eyes and angle up at 45 degrees. This is great to help maintain a crisp "winged" shape when you're doing cat eyes!

Also, I apply my eye makeup before everything else. Sounds counter-intuitive, but once you're done with your eyes, you can either wash up the rest of your face or go in there with a baby wipe or makeup remover towelette and remove the fallout. THEN you apply foundation. It sounds like such a small, silly step, but this makes the rest of your makeup application look so slick and smooth!

Post-its do work. Or if you feel like an office document, use tissue right under your eyes to collect the powder.

Yes, all my colors are pressed. Wet brush, work into color a little, apply.

Visine also works great for glitter applications.
