Where do you apply glitter?
I'm curious how many regularly wear glitter when gigging, and where? Eyes only? Shoulders/arms? Torso? Dip yourself in it & shake off excess before getting costumed?
Today I got a small container of LASplash body & face glitter in 'Golden Reflection'. Trying to decide where/how to wear it. I've gone overboard with it in the past, which is why I don't wear it now (the "baby belly dipped in stripper glitter" look was not good). I have the superfine stuff, just a sprinkle seems to go a long way and looked good under store lights when I put some on the inside of my arm at Ulta.

Re: Where do you apply glitter?
I use a shiny highlighter (Urban Decay's Urban Cowgirl, usually) on browbones (just under the arch) and cheekbones.
I use a lighter sprinkling of glitter on shoulder caps, over my oblique muscles a bit, and -- sometimes, when it seems appropriate -- over my cleavage.
I like to spritz cheap glitter hairspray over my body stocking, cleavage, shoulders and hair, too.

Re: Where do you apply glitter?
I do as Lauren does with the highlighter but don't wear glitter. I had to chime in, though, to advise that you not apply glitter only to your cleavage!
I saw a performance recently where it looked like the dancer had oiled up her (ample!) bosom prior to the performance, without having applied shine anywhere else. I think it might have sent the wrong message....

Re: Where do you apply glitter?
If I'm glittering, I use a Glitterbug from Lush, and I stroke that bad boy everywhere. This is my funky look for certain parties, nightclubs, etc.
The rest of the time, I actually prefer a toned-down shimmer product like Sally Hansen's Airbrush Shimmer, or the Shimmy Shimmy from Lush, and apply that everywhere. Sometimes, it's nice to have glowing skin without huge chunks of glitter. Airbrush Shimmer's kinda like PhotoShop in a bottle
I've also been really into glitter eyeliners and eyeshadows lately. The more sparkle, the better!

Re: Where do you apply glitter?
I either use a light shimmer lotion all over or put glitter on my tattoos.

I use glitter sometimes, it can look freaky in photos if you go overboard though. Well placed and used sparingly you will look dreamy.
I LOVE Lorac Tantalizer. Makes you look bronzey, glowey and golden. I love it for a more subtle look.

Also a nice satiny, subtle shimmer is petroleum jelly blended with mica powder (which comes in a whole variety of metallic, my favorite is warm gold).

Re: Where do you apply glitter?
I know several dancers who don't like glitter because they feel it reads as sweat!
Personally, it depends on many factors. Generally, I wear it on my arms, center of my tummy (this draws the eye there for an optical illusion of being thinner) cheek bones, over the brows, and across the top of my chest/collar bones. I tend not to glitter my cleavage as I get enough attention there with out assisting it!
I am not particularly wedded to any particular brand of glitter. I do try to get my hands on some of the glitter which is used by the cosmetic industry to add to eye shadow. But I have also been known to use fine craft glitter, depending on the show!

Craft glitter is a good idea. What do you use as a base? Maybe aloe vera gel?

Re: Where do you apply glitter?
I stay away from craft glitter, as it tends to be straight up metal pieces, whereas glitter made for use around the eyes is often a plastic/poly material since it is less likely to scratch & irritate.
Whatever you do, avoid getting glitter on your upper lip! If glitter gets anywhere you don't want it, any kind of tape to lift it off is your best friend (HD trick).

All over mu husband! At least that where it tends to end up even if I perform while he's at work, carefully shower before he gets home, and throw everything that I touch in a separate washer load.

Re: Where do you apply glitter?
My husband avoids me like the plague when I'm glittered, haha.
I like a little glitter on my belly, at the corner of my eyes, the tops of my shoulders and a little on my chest (just below my neck). I have some glitter spray from Victoria's Secret I think, but it goes on a bit light so I sprinkle a tad normal body glitter on before the spray dries. I have this yellow glitter eyeliner that rocks with my cream&gold costume. Or I'll use Eye Kandy as an eyeliner when I can find something to apply it with (I tend to lose the applicators and spill the liquid sugar base used to apply it with).
I also like a bit of shimmer (but not glitter) on the tiptops of my cheekbones for a bit of otherworldly glow. :-)

Re: Where do you apply glitter?
I've always loved plain old craft glitter in my hair - it's never bothered my contacts but maybe I've been lucky.
I wouldn't use toll-on glitter on anything you want to minimize (i.e. mid-section)!

I looooooove glitter eyeliner. I also like in on my shoulders and in my hair, but I don't tend to use a lot because it gets everywhere.

Re: Where do you apply glitter?
Ahh! Satinworship and I are firmly aboard the Lush glitter bar train, I see :)
I use those bars pretty much all over : cleavage, arms, belly, back. There's always a lil glitter to my eye-make-up so that's all good.
You don't want to look like you are dying and sweating out glitter but otherwise I think for a performance, more is more :)

When I put it on my body I do it all over, but a light dusting so it doesn't look like I'm trying to emphasize one part of my body. It also depends on my costume and how much or how little lighting there is. Wet-n-Wild has glitter that I like a lot.
Since I've been wearing Eye Kandy more and more though, I tend to wear less glitter on the rest of my body. Eye Kandy is the bomb - once you get Eye Kandy you never go back to eyes without it.

Re: Where do you apply glitter?
That is what I do--I mix craft glitter with aloe vera gel. I don't put the craft glitter on my face or anywhere near my eyes, though. That's what Eye Kandy is for. I put the craft glitter on my shoulder caps, collarbones, decolletage, belly, and back.
I have a gold shimmer powder that I also like to use on my decolletage and down the tops of my arms and legs.

Re: Where do you apply glitter?
On the subject of glitter, what would you recommend on very pale skin that's quite matte? I don't like the "craft glitter" look on me, it looks tacky, but I love the look of fine all over shimmer, like you've been dipped in powdered silver. Unfortunately glitter powders just disappear on my body. I wouldn't use it much on my face, it's not flattering.

Re: Where do you apply glitter?
I used the LASplash the night I posted this & it was very subtle, however I did get the superfine eyeshadow/mineral one instead of the one more for whole body (tho both can be worn anywhere it says). I thought it gave more of a sheen with light occasionally reflecting to give a 'wait was that glitter?' look.
i went with cheekbones, center of lips, collarbone, shoulders, obliques & feet. I thought it wore off awfully quick though. this stuff is kinda like eye kandy in that they also have the liquid or whatever you can mix it with to use it as eye liner as well.

Re: Where do you apply glitter?
Oh. Thats' a thought. I remember a while ago it was the "in" thing to use some sort of shimmer powder on your face. Or at least the magazines said so. I always thought, "but those models just look like they didn't wash their face this morning and it's all greasy." I guess that's why I'd pick fine glitter over anything with shimmer--I want it clear that it's glitter, not sweat or oil!I know several dancers who don't like glitter because they feel it reads as sweat!
Hair gel? What do you use as a base?
