Where do you generally buy your cabaret jewelry?
I'm having trouble finding jewelry items that are really flashy, sparkly, and big enough to suit me. I usually just look around at our malls and stores, and they just don't have stuff that is really over-the-top stage appropriate. So where do you get your bellydance jewelry for cabaret / raqs sharqi?

I've bought most of mine from fellow Bhuzer "Bintbeled". She has a thread in the retail section here on Bhuz. Here's a link:

I buy mine at a Chinese beauty-supply store. It's dirt cheap. See if you can find something like that in your area.

Ebay can be a good source, I recently started to like Indian jewelry.

Re: Where do you generally buy your cabaret jewelry?
I tend to buy most of mine at dance events so i can see it in person first. I like jewelry that can be seen from outer space, so subtle just wont work. :) I get a lot of my rhinestone sets from Shiny Sparkly Things and Magical Fashions. They both carry some of the huge showgirl/stage size sets. :)

I get mine at the cheap-o jewlery stores in the garment district. They do mostly wholesale but some places sell retail too. Great prices and bling-tastic jewlery that I don't really see elsewhere.

Re: Where do you generally buy your cabaret jewelry?
Hmm I tend to swing by Icing and Claires, generally. Also the "drag queen emporium" beauty supply store on the East Side of town has cheap rhinestone bling like you would not believe. No guarantees on longevity though! Sometimes the booths that pop up in the mall around the holidays have cool stuff. But the links you have posted all look amaazing.

I too have found some things at Claire's; a lot of it I've bought at dance events. And some of it I make. Most bellydance sites sell some pretty flashy jewelry too.

Re: Where do you generally buy your cabaret jewelry?
I bought a whole bunch of custom jewelry in a store called Byoux Brigitte. When I visited Miami earlier this year I bought two sets in a store specialised in custom jewelry. I'll see if I can find the website!

Re: Where do you generally buy your cabaret jewelry?
I haven't purchased from them (as they are a wholesaler so I usually don't need multiples of anything like this), but have looked and drooled periodically - Rhinestone Jewelry & Accessories: Rhinestone Jewelry Corporation - Rhinestone Tiaras, Necklaces, Bracelets, Barrettes and Everything in Rhinestones Wholesale
Maybe I should contemplate a "troupe purchase". ..l;,

Re: Where do you generally buy your cabaret jewelry?
Most of my favorite blingy jewelry comes from Nordstrom Rack. They have higher-end Swarovski pieces, and also less expensive rhinestone stuff.
I also have had good luck at Claire's/Icing (especially during or just after prom season) and on eBay.

Re: Where do you generally buy your cabaret jewelry?
I search on ebay. Really big pieces are too much for my frame- but if you look up "diva rhinestone", "drag queen jewelry" and other similar things you'll find some AMAZING pieces!

Re: Where do you generally buy your cabaret jewelry?
I get my elastic rhinestone bracelets at either Jest Jewels or one of the mall stores (Claires or Amuse). Since they get pretty abused, I prefer the less expensive ones I don't feel so bad about trading out frequently.
I have found decent necklaces at those stores as well, but yes, they are often WAAAY to small to satisfy my need for bling!
Shiny Sparkly Things is my favorite!!! She is my bling mama and has taken such good care of me each time I see her at an event :) You have to take extra special care of her necklaces and earrings, but they are soooo worth it. Flippin' HUGE and SPARKLY!!

I'm seconding the vote for Calico Garden. Nilaja has gorgeous bling for very fair prices.

Re: Where do you generally buy your cabaret jewelry?
I get almost all of mine at a funky little independently-owned boutique in my town. The rest usually comes from Amuse, Icing, Claire's and similar stores.
Rule of thumb: The more high-end the store, the less likely you will be to find gratuitous bling

Re: Where do you generally buy your cabaret jewelry?
Where-ever I can find it. Antique stores are a fave. So is a local second hand clothing boutique owned by one of my ex-instructors. Goodwill and thrift stores. Claire's and similar. Shiny, Sparkely Things tends to be on the high side - I suspect they purchase from the LA garment district and mark up from there, but as LA is 300+ miles away, they can be convenient. I recently purchased a set at Valley Fair Mall in San Jose that was marked $150. As soon as I mentioned the garment district, the price dropped to $99!
By coincidence, I gotta go to Clair's today!
